Tielemans63 Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 SSL and NP kissed and made-up and now SSL is playing really well. Surely MM can do the same? He wasn't worth the transfer fee but is still a very good player at this level.
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Fvcking Leeds and Colin willy puller. If he's had trouble with NP then what will it be like with Colin. Eh? Was this aimed at me or summat?
LCFC FOX Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Just an excuse to get over the abuse hes going to get from the Reading fans Reading fans must be laughing at us right now
Kitchandro Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 How do you work that out? Well it all depends on what you define huge. He was at Blackpool for a few months at the end of that season. He was with us for the whole of the season we got relegated, where he played like dogshit. He was a chavvy little cretin with a bad attitude - like with Mills, I'm glad Pearson gets rid of players like that.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 The reason we paid over the odds for him and offered him such a high contract was because two Prem clubs went in for him and Sven got into an auction with them. Ironically, Pearson could end up making the same mistake with him that Sven made with Jack Hobbs. Sven's only mistake with Hobbs was replacing him with a very similar player for 5 times what he sold him for. Hobbs hasn't really set the world alight at Hull. I liked Hobbs when he was here, but I think we're looking to play a different style now. Neither Mills nor Hobbs are suited to it.

I'm not saying he was a good player for us (he barely played), I'm merely saying that loaning him to Blackpool that season was a mistake which backfired on us, it's hard to argue otherwise. Equally, loaning Mills to a potential Play Off rival would not be a shrewd move.

Check out which club has the division's best defensive record, and then look at who their captain is. Their style is no different to ours, for the simple reason that Pearson is responsible for both.
HEGGSY Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Eh? Was this aimed at me or summat? No Colin willy puller = Neil Warnock. Sorry for the confusion mate

If the guys got a bad attitude he'll be doing more damage to us here than if he was at Leeds.

He was with us for the whole of the season we got relegated, where he played like dogshit. For most of that season, he was never truly fit, so it would be harsh to blame him for our demise. Other strikers like Cort, Fryatt and Howard should take more of the rap. He was a chavvy little cretin with a bad attitude - like with Mills, I'm glad Pearson gets rid of players like that. When the same thing happens with a number of players (both here and Hull) is it really just down to bad attitude, or a flaw in Pearson's style of management? Time will tell on this..
clare Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 If the guys got a bad attitude he'll be doing more damage to us here than if he was at Leeds. Couldn't agree more. Team spirit and a settled squad is a must if we are to make a charge for the play offs. Even if we don't/can't make the play offs, it is crucial that matters like this are dealt with swiftly and decisively for the good of the squad. We don't need the distraction!

First point : Irrelevant because it's not all about their result against us, it was about the amount of goals he scored for them resulting in them gaining enough points to secure a Play Off spot. Second point : I presume you mean this season? It may be a long shot, but of course we have a chance. Third point : I agree, but why loan him to a 'rival'. Loan him out to team lower down by all means.

We were not in the business of stopping Blackpool, we were in the business of getting in the play-offs, which we did, ahead of Blackpool. We lost to Cardiff so what Blackpool did was irrelevent. In fact, that's not quite true, I was delighted when his hat-trick beat Forest. So actually I'd say his move there was a positive. Likewise I just don't see Mills going to Leeds as a bad thing. He probably won't even be able to play against us at the end of April. Yeh Ok, in an ideal world he'd go on loan to a struggling side but maybe he doesn't want that? I shouldn't think many teams down there can afford his wages. I don't see either side getting in the play-offs anyway. I think you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

Would argue that we're attempting to play the ball out of the back now, which is a style of play which is beyond Hobbs and his extremely limited passing.

Fryatt and Cort were rarely fully fit that season.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 A major headache for us is that if he goes out on loan we will still be paying the majority of his wages. Can't see Leeds paying more than 5k a week towards his wages. That still leaves us paying 35k (if the 40k a week figure is correct) and he could potentially help a rival team into the play offs and to the Prem at our expense. If either of the top 2 want him we should snap their hands off. They could pay his wages so at least we would not be burdened with them. Perhaps Ipswich will want him. They pay stupid wages,

I wouldn't say that Hobbs' passing skills are much different from those of Wes Morgan.
Guest ttfn Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 I wouldn't say that Hobbs' passing skills are much different from those of Wes Morgan. And I think Wes Morgan will be 3rd choice behind St. Ledger and Bamba once the dust settles. Wait and see, I suppose. Morgan was also in the team of the year last year. Arguably he's an upgrade from Hobbs at a similar price. The only really shitty deal here was signing Mills for £3 million+.
HankMarvin Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Never rated the lad, Sven was the only person on earth that thought he was worth anything over 2m. Not strictly true is it ??????????????????? "The Foxes are understood to have met Reading’s asking price, after Royals boss Brian McDermott revealed yesterday he had turned down a £3m-plus offer from Wolves."
Corky Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Surely, if he's as bad and disruptive an influence as he's made out to be, he won't be helping a rival if he goes to them?
blueharmie Posted 25 February 2012 Posted 25 February 2012 Remember what he was like when reading played us at home? He was terrible. Really shaky and nervous. I have defende him in the past but he is no leader I think he is an average defender. Pearson will get rid. Don't **** around with big nige else he will kick ur ass into touch. Bye mills.
