Nigel Pearson doesn't rate Matt Mills

Bought for 5.5millions sold for 2million at the most

Except I believe £5.5m includes add-ons, such as promotion, which still isn't impossible but you have to admit very unlikely.

I doubt realistically we spent more than £2 - £3.5m on him, I think we'd break even when we come to sell him.

Not particularly surprised by this, in his words hes been 'decent' but we have players who will do better than that. But the reason im not surprised is because hes never come across has having a good attitude in any moment ive seen him since hes been here, although i tried not to read into it too much. Putting performances and silly money he came here for aside hes not a bad player but thats only half the story, you need to be on the right terms with your manager aswell.

If I or anyone else on here did the same with our boss we would in all likelihood be dismissed for gross misconduct. If this is true I can never understand why this doesn't apply to footballers. Ie Sacked with no compensation.

They seem to be a law unto themselves financially protected when clubs go into admin at the expense of local businesses when in most cases it's their extortionate wages that have been the main driving force behind such actions although the clubs owners/financiers must take the bulk of the blame for that..

Overpaid and overpriced (not his fault )

Thinks he's better than he is

Reasonable Championship defender ( but no more )

Not a good captain - no discernible team spirit with him as the leader

Good blocker and header but a number of his poor clearances have resulted in goals against

Looks to blame others for his own mistakes

Never warmed to him, consolidated by a RL interview a few weeks ago where he was saying that the defence had done its job but the forwards had failed to perform. Seemed self satisfied and was wrong as the defence has been sub-standard this season

If he "knuckled down and proved himself" then NP wouldn't have an issue with him. The fact that NP does have an issue with him is all we really need to know. Either his ability or his attitude or both are not acceptable. Simplez, rude boy.

Personally i think Sven recognised Mills to be a bit of an egotistical bellend so offered him the world. Sven's philosphy was (and always has been) get the best players, let them sort things out for themselves while i go off on a jolly. When people get suspicious, charm them. Sven was desperate to get Mills because he thought he would be good enough to lead the defence into a promotion push so he paid a top price and made hugely ambitious promises. Mills was left with a supremely inflated opinion of himself which wouldn't have mattered an inch if Svens judgement was correct and we walked the league.

Problem was Sven got it terribly wrong. Mills is nowhere near good enough to take us to the level he thought he would. Hence dropping him for the 2nd game. Sven couldn't believe how crap he was and panicked, thus beginning the sequence of events which has left Mills' relationship with Leicester City in tatters. He is still desprately clinging onto what Sven originally told him about how he could lead us into a charge for Europe next year after bossing the championship this year. He still believes that he is as good as Sven told him he was. The problem is, he simply isn't a particularly good player, and until he himself recognises this and begins to act with a reasonable attitude, he will never be an asset to this or any other club and Pearson is absolutely right to freeze him out.

Nice story.

Probably not the right decision to make him club captain straightaway. It certainly put Wellens' nose out of joint as he looked very miffed for the first few months of the season.

Perhaps the issue is over the captaincy? I.e Pearson doesn't feel he's the right man/ has the right attitude to continue in the role.

I think everybody needs to adopt a bit of Pearson mentality and forget about the pricetag etc, which has made him a bit of a target.

He hasn't been great, so he's been dropped in favour of defenders in better form.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be behind him as a member of the Leicester squad. He needs to feel that the fans are 100% backing him so that, when he plays, he has the confidence and desire to perform.

If Pearson thinks he worthy of a place back in the team, he will put him back in - simple as.

I read some bollocks on here !

Good post.

I've defended you in the past Matt but not anymore, if true this is inexcusable and as a result you should be on your bike.

Overpaid for him, probably shouldn't have become captain but he was better than most on here said. In the end his attitude led to his demise. Goodbye Matt, make sure you play like you did against Reading down at KP next year.

Not looking good for Matt Mills at #lcfc after a row with Nigel Pearson. All leeds up to a possible move away on loan

Fvcking Leeds and Colin willy puller. If he's had trouble with NP then what will it be like with Colin.

Take from this what you want but me and my mates were on a night out after the Cov game back in August and we saw Mills, Dannzy and Peltier out.

After having a few was feeling happy about the season coming after winning at the Ricoh for the 1st time (looking back i think how deluded was I) and went over to speak to them Peltier and Dannzy seemed happy to chat and have a photo, Mills on the other hand looked like I had stomped on his foot and couldn't wait for me to do one!

Plus later on in the night he wasn't allowed in the terrace bar for being too under dressed and I remember him saying to the bouncers "you'll regret this mate, biggest mistake of your life, you should know who I am etc"

Question is how can Leeds afford the wages on loan, unless they give us Snodders in exchange they can f**k off.

We'll obviously be paying most of it, by the looks of it Nige will just want him out of the club.

Pity. He always seemed to do well when playing against us so I'd high hopes for him here but c'est la vie.

Has he not just spelt 'leads' wrong? Grammatically it's a shocking sentence if he did mean Leeds lol

Hopefully it is a loan with a view to a permanent transfer but put it this way I am sure Mills will be happy just to be collecting his big wage packet here so I doubt he will go anywhere for time being.
