Comfortably the least culturally rewarding trip I've ever been on - like a giant Fosse Park only hotter and with a slightly better selection of restaurants. This is why it is low down on my list of places to go see. But then again i've heard the Drinks are cheap and the yank birds love the Aussie accent.

The usa is a beautiful country but Orlando is certainly not a good representation of it. definately, the weird thing is if someone planted orlando in england everyone would say it was a shithole. In just over an hour's drive from Richmond, you can see: - Williamsburg, totally restored Colonial capital of America, The College of William and Mary; second oldest university in the US, Jamestown, the first English settlement Yorktown; last battle of the Revolutionary War Washington DC; White House, The Capitol, Library of Congress, Smithsonian, National Gallery of Art I could go on. Shennandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains; beautiful area. Charlottesville; home of the University of Virginia quaint place with lots of cafes and bars for student types. Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's Home Colonial Homes on the James River Edgar Allen Poe Museum It's not my job to defend any place in the US since everyone has different tastes but to me, if I had done all that lot, I think I would have come away with a different perspective of this part of America, especially if it was my first time.
Guest MattP Posted 21 February 2012 Posted 21 February 2012 Love the West Coast, been over about 10 times and never get bored, Santa Monica and Vegas are up there with my two fave cities on the planet, San Diego and San Francisco are also worth a visit. Loved Dallad and Seattle but wasnt keen on the East Coast if I was honest, people are far more relaxed the further you get away from NYC. Booked a week in Vegas again last week for the Mayweather-Cotto fight, will probably take in a day or two in California as well.

I wish I'd spoken to you before I went. However as you've said, none of those places are actually in Richmond. To be fair, if I'd been old enough to drive when I went over, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

What makes you think they are not in Virginia?
