Bluefoxtim Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Anyone got a video of the Sky vs. Pearson interview?
oli fox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 we do have a pretty expensively assembled squad but west ham have been the biggest spenders by a long way. Nolan - 4 mill, Baldock - 2 m, Taylor - 2 m, maynard - 2 m, vaz te - 1.5, o'neill - 2. not to mention a ridiculously high wage list. but everyone seems to forget that and call us the "championships big spenders"
Reynard Bleu Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 All of our spending came at once. We had a long period when we were having to bring players in from the Irn-Bru Combination league and the such like. It was really only the Sven era when our spending went bonkers, can't imagine NP would have been as free with the dosh if he had stayed. Still its a millstone now and the best way to shed it is to keep winning and moving upthe league, although then it will be they 'bought' theie success. I'll just ignore it all.
Kitchandro Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 All media outlets are lazy and only really know the ins and outs of premier league clubs. The rest they skim off what they can from the surface and often make a hash of it. For me Sky's coverage of football at all levels is tired and in need of a fresh input and enthusiasm. Mind you when you watch ITV you realise that Sky whilst being jaded they are still a million times better than that lot. It's a shame the BBC cant afford to get the rights to more live football, it's an equal shame that the cuts enforced on the BBC have lead to a lightweight coverage of the Football League. Then there's ESPN..... dear lord. Ipswich West Ham Even Derby signed around the same number as us in the summer But what does it matter they hate us. They repeatedly mention the "fantastic atmosphere" at Pride park.... ARE YOU FVCKING JOKING ME! For 90 minutes all you could here were Leicester songs, The best chant derby started was boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo It's an absolute joke even against Southampton they put it down to SOTON being poor instead of us being good. Well Fvck um we don't need sky and i hate them Great thread. I also picked up on the Mills debate the commentators had, it quite frankly peed me off and frustrated me. I even shouted at the tv telling them to shut the f*** up. It was like they knew absolutely nothing about how Mills has been this season, it was like we dropped Ronaldo or something, they said it about three times and seemed absolutely shocked that he wasn't playing. They need to analyse teams more, and stop thinking the likes of Mills and Wellens are incredible and are the best players in our team. The fact is they ain't, Mills has been absolutely shocking, deserved to be dropped and hopefully he now leaves, yes he was a mistake of 4-5 million, but I don't care as long as he up sticks and leaves. Pundits etc... need to do there flaming research and watch our matches, they might learn something then, and praise St Ledger and Danns instead of going on about Mills and Wellens all the time. These When Oakley was in the team they were always making out he was the 'key man'. I remember during the home game as well. 'Nugent - he's come to a big club, with big expectation, for a big fee' This is Sky Sports we're talking about. This aint some little, financially constrained channel. Yet they don't even have the professionalism to properly research football below the Premiership. Their coverage is quite shocking.
Lambert09 Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Kasper cost over a million, So did Konchesky, So did Wellens, St Ledger cost alomost a million and wasn't free, Marshall, Drinkwater and Morgan £1m each. We currently also have two players who cost between £5-8 million not even on the bench. Mills and ??? Have I missed something
Sampson Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 At one point they mentioned "one thing you'll always find about Nigel Pearson's teams at Leicester and Hull is they are great at set pieces." This is nothing more than a lazy stereotyping of managers who are former English centre-backs. I'm a big fan of Pearson, but we are dreadful at set pieces under him, as we were in our first spell (I seem to remember the first time he was here there being an ongoing counter in which we didn't score for about 150 corners or something ridiculous) and Hull were just as bad and it was constantly brought up how few goals they scored from them. If anything, Pearson's teams are right up there as being one of, if not the worst in the country at attacking set pieces (though they are generally exceptional at defending them).

Wasn't that under Sousa and Sven? Agree with your general point though, that's another Sky classic.

Babylon Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Mills and ??? Have I missed something Waghorn... i'm talking combined fees.
Sampson Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 I missed that It was towards the end of the first half where Morgan had a free-kick on the right wing, towards the edge of the area.
wellyfox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Give it a rest, why don't you have a go at the person who wrote the thread in the first place. I like to voice my opinions and frankly im entitled, if you don't like it don't comment. I have always stuck by St Ledger, from his first game when he made a mistake against Bristol City, people just called him shit, because he made an error. Those fans didn't take notice of his all round game, where in my opinion he seemed absolute quality, he could pass the ball out of defence, his heading was good two things Matt Mills is lacking. Danns aswell yes he was poor at the start, but that's because he was playing on the wing, he is simply not a winger, now he has been put in the middle, he is vastly improving. Our Derby game live on Sky at the beginning of the season, I wouldn't of expected them to praise St Ledger and Danns because they weren't getting in the team. However this was last night's game, where for weeks St Ledger and Danns have been playing well, therefore pundits should know leading up to a televised game, how well these two have been playing, and talk about their abilities rather than Mills and Wellens. Beagrie always says Wellens is one of the best midfielders in the Championship, and yesterday everyone were shocked that Mills had been dropped, they just need to do some reasearch. Im not expecting them to love us, but I am expecting them to know more about the teams leading up to the televised game. Not just us even, other Championship matches they continuely praise players that ain't on form, it's just common knowledge that they should analyse the teams and players which have been playing well, instead of talking bollocks and going by their own instinct. Even if you don't care wellyfox, some people do, and why should I listen to music when im trying to watch a game of football? lol lol So you like to voice your opinion but if I don't like it I gotta shut up. Think praps you should go play on your own n then you won't get upset by others comments. O dear sorry I.m not supposed to have an opinion on what you say so sorry lol lol NOT

It's as simple as that. Don't forget mate... It ain't that simple. I found that out last season when I had worries about Sven... And last night when I dared to criticise Jermaine.. Whilst stating that other players were excellent I might add!!. It should be as simple as you say.. But it ain't! lol Makes me piss miself.....
Raw Dykes Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 I did think it was funny when one of the commentators said, "The Leicester fans are a being a bit premature singing about going to Wembley - their team has a lot to do to reach the playoff final." Idiot.
kingfox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Everyone is entitled to there opinions, if someone questions a post of mine I will simply answer it back. Couldn't care if someone is having a go at me, I just voice my opinion and have a go back. No comments faze me on here, if I don't like Mills I don't like Mills and I am entitled to voice my opinion on him. Same with this thread about the Sky Sports coverage, I watched the match, I also picked up on the things the thread maker said, so I commented about them. Then someone tells me to listen to music instead, simple answer to that is NO. I will watch the team I support, with sound or no sound, not listen to flaming music when I have a chance to watch an away game on Sky Sports. If I want to comment on how shit I thought the commentators were, I will comment, everyone should know by now what a **** Peter Beagrie and Don Goodman can be at times, but if I want to have a go at them I will.
Babylon Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Why should they research a thing 99% of our fans gave Danns and SSL fvck all time to settle in. I don't think that's entirely true. The main argument against them was that they hadn't done enough for people to be screaming they should be starting games ahead of others. Like it or not the two of them had both had chances, they just didn't take them and performed badly. The difference this time is that they took the chances presented to them. They hit the ground running unlike earlier in the season, and kept up those performaces.
