Mack Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 I've just heard AVB has been told that IF Napoli knock Chelsea out of the Champion's League he will be sacked. Quite why Abramovich employed him is a mystery to me. All that money to get him in.. obvious re-building job to be done yet he looks to pull the plug before the guy has had a go at making the transition. I bet he's looking at Benitez also...
LCFC FOX Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 AVB is a good manager. Needs money to spend though. Think Chelsea could win the league next season if they keep him.
Fox You Forest Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 I have a feeling it won't be too long before Roman pulls the plug on himself.
acooling08 Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Hope AVB is still in charge for the cup game, or new manager syndrome will screw us over.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Hope AVB is still in charge for the cup game, or new manager syndrome will screw us over. My kind of optimism
Leicester_Loyal Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 He'll be sacked soon enough, I don't think they'll ever win the league with him as a manager. His tactics bemuse me at times.
Lovejoy Posted 28 February 2012 Posted 28 February 2012 Feel a bit for AVB. Took on a sinking ship with what some may describe as the worst dressing room in football. Chelsea won't win anything until the likes of Terry and Drogba are shipped out and the team play for each other and the manager. There are too many egos and too many players past their prime at present. In regards to the man himself I wonder if he was ready for such a high profile position. There have been instances where he hasn't looked ready for the pressure, such as the Gary Neville wind up and various post game interviews. I have no doubt he'll go on to be a top manager in the future, and reckon he'll probably walk into a decent job probably in Serie A or La Liga. After all what he achieved in Portugal was remarkable even considering the supposed standard of the game over there.
Mack Posted 29 February 2012 Author Posted 29 February 2012 I see in the papers today Mourinho is house hunting in London. Apparently AVB has been told to his face by the powers that be he's out if Chelsea go out of Europe.
Guest ttfn Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Feel a bit for AVB. Took on a sinking ship with what some may describe as the worst dressing room in football. Chelsea won't win anything until the likes of Terry and Drogba are shipped out and the team play for each other and the manager. There are too many egos and too many players past their prime at present. Exactly. The problems at Chelsea are almost exclusively of the players' making. Villas-Boas hasn't helped himself at times but the attitude of the likes of Drogba, (surprise, surprise) Terry and (most disappointingly) Lampard has been wretched towards him from the get-go. Villas-Boas wants to play a high-line with a focus on pressing the opposition players when they are in possession. Old players simply don't have the energy to do this as well, so his big mistake was not shipping them out in the summer. The Chelsea fans have played their part in this as well. The ridiculous hero-worship of John Terry has long past the point when it was mildly amusing and is now just sad. The same goes now for their fawning over Lampard and Drogba. Once great players, and still very good players, but they don't have the legs to play every game any more. In fact, they don't fit in with how the manager wants to play the game. They need to realise that these players are coming towards the end of their careers and that in order for the club to move forward, they need to go through a year-or-two of transition, bringing in younger, more agile players and adapting to the AVB way.
????? Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Cant see him being incharge at the start of next season.
Corky Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 The media aren't on his side either, so it's an even tougher job.
Fox92 Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Roman shouldn't have got rid of Mourinho! I feel for AVB, if you don't win something with Chelsea in your first year then you're out. Who would take that job? I know I wouldn't. It sums it all up when Grant took them to their only ever European Cup final (as well as 2nd in the Prem) and he got sacked.

Fox92 Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 what big job you holding out for then? Professional prostitute tester
Rocket-Ron Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Sit in the managers chair for a couple of months, Get the sack with a huge pay-off by a trigger happy owner. Easiest job in the world.
Guest MattP Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Feel sorry for the guy, Drogba, Terry, Lampard, Cole all coming to the end, huge rebuilding job and no time and fairly little funding to do it. The guy is a born winner, the job he did at Porto was outstanding, if Chelsea sack him he'll do the business eventually somewhere else.

You just know he'd go to somewhere like Inter and come back and bite them in the Champions League in the near future.

Bugg Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Lampard and Drogba must go if AVB is going to have any chance of doing well with Chelsea, it's not that I think they are bad players, but it seems obvious that them two are negative influences in the dressing room.
21st Century Fox Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Have I seen that happen before? Possibly... Inter have the same problem at the moment though, they've got a fairly old squad with alot of square pegs and round holes that needs a lot of work.

whoareyaaa Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 The reason they have lost a lot of games is because Lampard hasnt been playing and that defender Luiz is worse than Mills and cost them too many goals.
Charl91 Posted 29 February 2012 Posted 29 February 2012 Watched the Brazil - Bosnia game. Luiz really is dreadful.
