Zingari Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I don’t know if this thread will have legs or has been done before, but here goes. Which characters in major movies do you think you empathise with most? Which character would you see yourself behaving like in the circumstances of the plot? To start with and being a great fan of the film “12 Angry Men” , I think juror number 9 ( played by Joseph Sweeney )most closely resembles how I think I would be in that situation . Basically , this character goes along with the crowd , but if there is just one voice of dissent is prepared to at least listen to that voice , So , either in this film or any other ( preferably well known ) film , who are you in nature , or character?
skinnydipper Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I am Sorry, but it had to be done Good thread but quite a hard question to answer. Will have a think about this.
Captain... Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I am giving this lots of thought, probably someone in a slacker comedy like Mallrats or Office Space or maybe Shaun as in of the Dead. Not sure yet. Will get back to you.
skinnydipper Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Not a film character but regrettably I guess I'm a bit like Full of bull and perceive myself as more poular than the reality Even have the silly goatee too

Captain... Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 can you do the dance though ? yes , good idea to use tv characters too , it opens it up a bit more Keep it to films, TV characters are too easy because there are many TV programs that closely resemble our mundane lives, and are designed that way, Films are more extraordinary and thus make for more insightful answers. Otherwise we will get lots of people saying Tim or Dawn from the Office because they are the ones we are supposed to identify with.
foxfanazer Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Ben schtiller in meet the parents . If I could choose who I want to be then it would be ray liotta (Henry hill in goodfellas)

From the way you worded the thread title I was thinking you were going to say a pirate of some kind, Me? I always wanted to be Eomer, though that's from the book Lord of the Rings long before the film. Purely from films, I'd like to be Inspector Jackie Chan!
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 In the way that he makes light of very seriopus incidents to keep peoples spirits up, I like to think I am like Guido in Life is Beautiful. Which I recommend that EVERYONE should watch. http://youtu.be/0Y9aKqawdUQ
Jace Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Not sure if I am most like Agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) from Fast Five or Buddy Hobbs (Will Farrell) from Elf....

Watched this a couple of weeks ago, such a good film. Definitely worth a watch for those who haven't seen it. The only person i can think of for me would probably be Simon from Inbetweeners! Weird some of the similarities there are
General Smuts Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I need a token fat quiet guy to be the Silent Bob to my Jay Although I'd say I used to be Dante and then Randall.
Parafox Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Jules Winnfield (Samuel L Jackson) in Pulp Fiction... Ultra cool.. if only.... Mr White (Harvey Kietel) in Reservoir Dogs... Am I revealing maybe a violent streak in my nature??

Arrrrghh , you be very observant for a postie Trav lad ! It took me a while to see what you meant edit; is it possible for a nice mod ( or Webbo) to insert the word "would" into the title please
Zingari Posted 7 March 2012 Author Posted 7 March 2012 I'm not saying i'm really like Colonel Jessup in "A Few Good Men" but I can sympathise a little with his viewpoint in the situation that he is in .Most people I ask say he is completely wrong , and say he gets his just desserts but I don't fully see it that way . Anyway it's a good excuse to post one of the finest scenes that I've ever seen in any film Would I do the same thing given the circumstances ? i really don't know , maybe we all would like to think not , but I'm really not so sure .
Daggers Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I need a token fat quiet guy to be the Silent Bob to my Jay Quiet? Me?
Daggers Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Daggers, when the **** do you ever abide!? Just think how shit it must be to be married to me.

Weird some of the similarities there are I personally think 12 Angry Men should be compulsory viewing in schools and colleges up and down the land . I genuinely believe it can teach us more about prejudiced views than all the nanny type lecturing .
