Dan Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 I went once with a Reading fan and sat in the home end as he promised me it would be an absolute cracking atmosphere. It was absolutely dire. There was maybe one or two chants all game, very half hearted. The best thing about the day was the food he insisted I try at half time. Afterwards he insisted it was a good atmosphere. Absolutely appalling. I know people moan about the atmosphere at the KP at times and yeah it can be a bit dead from time to time, but there are far, far worse HOME atmospheres in this division. I've actually been about 5 or 6 times, but I won't go again. Says it all. Honestly their fans don't have a clue about support it appears to me. People slating Howard coming on, don't get me wrong, I think we need to do better than him but why not bring him on? Forced to hoofball according to Stringer/Young, what use is Schlupp or Beckford? At least we're trying to change things before it's too late.
Guest Col city fan Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 The introduction of Howard suggests two things: Pearson is fooked off with Beckfords inability to keep the ball.. We have too few options up front... I believe Nige will rectify both of these in the summer. I don't expect anyone to agree with this of course as Beckford love has become as ridiculous as Sven love was. Come on City!!!
cc_star Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Schlupp the future or Howard the past Great choice Nigel, I don't want to start doubting you but... The tricky, pacey player wasn't working so why swap Becks for Schlupp, it's not far off like for like and wouldn't change the tactics of the team. Changing tactic of the team is the primary decision for brining Howard on after we only managed 1 shot on target in the whole half... If there was someone else with his advantages they'd probably be above them, but there isn't... so it's Howard
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 If Howard doesn't score today I'm going to deliberately foul myself at full time
Wycombe Fox Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Has Young referred to Howard as 'Frankie' yet? If not, it's only a matter of time. I'm currently wrapping duck tape around my torso to prevent my sides from splitting.
Bluefoxtim Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 So you think we can just go any buy the league? Then you know nothing about the championship. It may work in the Premier League but in the championship it doesn't work like that. Sven was given too much freedom and money to spend! We weren't gonna tell Sven "only buy English players, oh and you've got 500k".
NewburyFox Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Stringer - "A sea of red shirts." Who is playing in red???
The People's Hero Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 I know exactly what you mean but my main point was that the Owners don't understand the championship at all and that they are trying to buy promotion. Obviously we'd expect to do well, and obviously they want our hopes to be raised but they went about it the wrong way. They don't really know what they are doing. It's the players I have the problem with. Between Sven and the Owners we've gone horribly wrong, both thinking that buying great individual players will do the trick, but to get promoted you need to play as a team that is why Southampton are where they are. I think its being seriously over analysed. The owners don't need to know the division - providing the get the right staff in ie manager and coaches etc. NP has shown himself to be a decent league manager. I am not his biggest fan and I think there are some flaws he will simply never redress, but forget that for a moment, NP is not a head in the clouds money man, he knows basically what is necessary. Add money to that and you should be on to a winner. Part of the problem will be that some of this squad is on big money, will be difficult to move on, but are not NP players. NP took the job on though and was obviously reasonably confident he could succeed (unless he was just tempted by the payoff) and it just hasn't come off yet. I do have high hopes for next season - but they are very much hopes, not expectations.
Bettsj2 Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 So you think we can just go any buy the league? Then you know nothing about the championship. It may work in the Premier League but in the championship it doesn't work like that. Sven was given too much freedom and money to spend! In fairness he didnt say we can buy the league. What he said was that the owners had backed the manager in a way that you would want owners to back a manager. The fact that they funded the squad to be put together how it was, was not their fault. The only thing I would say they got wrong was to hire Sven. At the time I thought it was a good move, but his tactics and gameplans were just too out of date to work in this league. They have made the right decision in bringing in Pearson as whilst they still make money available, Pearson will not spend it on the wrong players.
lcfcbaby Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 We weren't gonna tell Sven "only buy English players, oh and you've got 500k". No but the owners should have done their research like Sven should have done! Anyway there is no point reflecting on what should or shouldn't have happened we are where we are and Nigel is now the future and the present of Leicester!

HitchinFox Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 We don't have enough options up front...I believe Nige will rectify in the summer. As long as it's not bloody Fryatt. Perfect if you want to stay up. Not enough if you want to go up.
cc_star Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Stats have risen to 5 shots on target, having had only 1 in the whole 1st half Bloody Pearson and his subs! (not that I think we'll go on to win, because we prob won't but it's certainly changed things for the better)
Callabinho Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 So you think we can just go any buy the league? Then you know nothing about the championship. It may work in the Premier League but in the championship it doesn't work like that. Sven was given too much freedom and money to spend! it's a debate that can swing either way. Warnock made 11 changes last season and it worked, we made around the same and it didn't. Ultimately Sven's inexperience in the championship let us down, as well as a few questionable signings. Pearson needs a summer to gather all the players and clear out the dead wood.
steveherbe Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 To be fair our fans have sounded good this half. Fans have been my player of the season. Supporting a mediocre mid-table team, they've been the only bright spot. And now we have Howard up front - OMG as my son would say. Lets bring back the Doog, Frankie Large or Alan Young.

Stevie can't actually run 10 metres anymore. Schlupp and Beckford are NOT like for like, just because Beckford couldn't do anything doesn't mean that Schlupp can't - we are after all supposed to be a passing and movement team. If we're just going to lug the ball up to Steve then we should have kept Beckford on and taken off a midfielder. If the long ball is all we have then we may as well play Bamba up front and still bring on Schlupp instead of howard to feed off him. Just my opinion of course. Love Steve but he's too slow now.
Walker Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 So you think we can just go any buy the league? Then you know nothing about the championship. It may work in the Premier League but in the championship it doesn't work like that. Sven was given too much freedom and money to spend! I know quite a lot about the Championship thanks very much. Investment in the squad was needed, maybe not on that scale, but we needed to spend money. Southampton have spent, West Ham have spent, they're doing alright. Does it work in the Premier League? See Chelsea, you must know nothing about the Premier League.
HitchinFox Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Stringer - "A sea of red shirts." Who is playing in red??? Hinckley? Isn't that where Stringer's commentating from...?
The People's Hero Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Howard gets a bad press. He can be frustrating, but if he gets a weak ref he can con a bit (like at West Ham) he can wreak havoc.
lcfcbaby Posted 10 March 2012 Posted 10 March 2012 Okay rather than repeating myself about 100 times to everyone who has disputed what I have said I'm just going to say it now. The owners made the wrong decision bringing in Sven and giving him such a big budget. But I now think they have the right man and the past isn't relevant anymore, we just have to look to the future, we can't change what has happened!
