Heard that Millsy is playing tomorrow night, can we not play beckford aswell, waste of oxygen on the field.

We paid (rumoured) £4 million pounds for a player who cannot/refuses to jump, offers very little hold up play, has less strength than dyer, does not have the blistering pace or dribbling skills to take on championship defenders, and shows very little urgency (e.g. chelsea away when he celebrated instead of getting the ball out of the net, and tonight when he spent 5 minutes arguing with the ref about throwing the ball back).

From what he has shown so far he is not good enough, he is not a young player with a bright and gifted future, and although their top goalscorer reason everton sold him, ( not financial either as they bought jelavic for £7 million and (loaned?) Pienarr).

I have not seen another championship player this season who has tried a volley from the corner flag, or has been one on one with the defender, and decides he cannot be bothered to take him on.

Nugent is a better striker, more goals, and a better workrate (not always important) which helps the team out defensivley, and also allows him more goalscoring chances. He will not fire in the goals for us to get promoted next season, maybe warnock will take him....I pray.

To Grewks, that quickly turned in to an aimless rant at Beckford.

Started off on-topic, then just went off on a massive tangent which could have gone somewhere else.

(Edited because of topic-merging).

I didn't see you piping up when Beckford has been in excellent form over the past couple of weeks.

Beckford wasn't great tonight, but neither was Nugent who you consider to be the "better striker" because of his workrate (which wasn't exactly any good tonight)

Nuge was played as a winger, and therefore didnt really have a sniff, beckford hasnt been great at all to be honest. I have not seen any signs of individual brilliance, has he scored a goal from outside the box yet?? Unless its on a plate 1v1 he will not score!

What? Scoring a goal outside the box doesn't automatically mean you become a brilliant (or better) striker.

for how shit you seem to think Beckford has been he has 2 thats TWO goals less then Nugent. And so what if he only scores in the box, they aren't worth any more just because they are from 30 yards

my point is he doesnt have the quality to score different types of goals, he doesnt have as many goals or as good workrate as nugent, so why does he get played as a striker rather than Nugent.

Imagine if Wenger moved Van Persie out wide and place walcott down the middle, or fergie pushed rooney out wide and played young as the striker, it doesnt happen

because Nugent spent the whole of last season playing as a winger, he doesn't need to score different types of goals we have others for the long range goals what he does is fill the need for a poacher. Fergie spent a couple of seasons playing Rooney wide so you have a short memory and Wenger did play RVP wide only moving him central when Henry left.

It's been since Chelsea away we have swapped systems up until then it was a rigid 4-4-2 with both through the middle and it will be again at some point, stop moaning for the sake of it, where were you against Hull when we played the same system and Beckford played well and deserved to get a goal???

poacher?? the amount of balls which have flashed across the box this season with beckford nowhere near is incredible. IMO he was poor against hull, it was marshall and dyer who were the standout players.

A strong Foxes squad will travel to Nene Park on Wednesday night, as a Leicester City XI take on Kettering Town in a fundraising friendly for the Blue Square Bet Premier club.

Andy King, Darius Vassell, John Pantsil and Matt Mills are among the senior professionals that will make the trip to Irthlingborough, along with some of the Club's young professionals and current Under-18 starlets.

Arranged by the Kettering Town Supporters' Trust, the fixture will be an opportunity for the Foxes and their fans to show their support for a local club currently experiencing financial difficulties. The involvement of King and Vassell in Steve Beaglehole's squad is a particular boost for the Foxes, both players having been sidelined through injury of late.

King has been missing since sustaining a foot injury in late-January and was an unused substitute in the first team's goalless draw with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. Former England striker Vassell has been out since undergoing knee surgery in October.

The game will be held at Nene Park, Irthlingborough - Kettering's home ground since the start of the 2011/12 season - and kicks-off at 7.45pm.

Admission to the game will be free of charge, though the Kettering Town Supporters' Trust will be collecting donations prior to supporters entering the turnstiles, which will go towards aiding the Poppies' financial plight.

Squad to travel: Theo Brown, Shane Byrne, Michael Cain, Elliott Chamberlain, Corey Gregory, Tom Hopper, Joey Jones, Andy King, Pierre Larrauri, Conrad Logan, Jide Maduako, Matt Mills, Liam Moore, Oliver Norburn, Harry Panayiotou, John Pantsil, Alie Sesay, Adam Smith, Darius Vassell.

If I was at home I'd definitely be going to this. Only live about 30 mins away from Nene Park.

Good luck to all players playing though. Most importantly Andy King though. Will be good to get his match fitness up to high levels again as soon as possible (without causing further injury though).
