DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Because, if he was like me, he'd have known that the police continue to lie, use violence and kill people. Oh boy, I really love your posts mate. lol lol
Daggers Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Oh boy, I really love your posts mate. lol lol I missed out steal. I know some very bent coppers.
Daggers Posted 25 March 2012 Posted 25 March 2012 Surely those methods should be reserved for the restraint of violent offenders in a dangerous situation not apprehending very minor criminals . Only after tins of lager, a bag of chicken and a drunk Geordie has failed. It's all laid out in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984
ozleicester Posted 26 March 2012 Author Posted 26 March 2012 Pretty simple really don't anything that will put you in a situation to be tasered! so... that rules out my next visit to Melbourne or Sydney?
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 so... that rules out my next visit to Melbourne or Sydney? I've never been tasered........suprisingly considering the crap i get up too
Reynard Bleu Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Tazer is not a proportionate response to petty theft. He was no threat to the Police, the public or himself if was running away.
OzFox Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 A mate of mine is a cop in Thames Valley. He's not one for taking chances or getting his hands dirty unless he really has to, so he's a big fan of tasers. When they were first trying them out at the cop shop, they apparently asked for a couple of volunteers to step forward and get zapped.
Steven Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Pretty simple really don't anything that will put you in a situation to be tasered! Problem is with the way Police use Tasers, this no situation where the threat of being tasered does not exist.
Zingari Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 I can’t believe there are so many ready to blandly accept the actions of the police in this case.( not just this forum , I mean in the wider community ) It is a fookin monstrous abuse of power , and all but signals that we are on the verge of not only accepting a police state , but almost demanding it . Remember that powers that are taken away from us by force can be recovered by force , but those that are freely given cannot.

Prior to being tasered, was this bloke resisting arrest? Violent? Was he drunk/drugged? He managed to get about ten blocks with his packet of biscuits. How did he do that? All I'm saying is until you know the full facts it's hard to comment. Some of the stories my copper mate tells me about dealing with pissed up, knife weilding aggressive louts would turn your hair white. Somebody even set him on fire with hairspray and a cigarette lighter. It's not totally surprising (to me at least) that sometimes they think of their own safety and get a bit trigger happy
Guest Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Ask a copper to deal with something trivial, and they don't want to know. Ask them to go wading in so that they can enflame a situation, which then allows them to throw their weight about, and they're there quicker than Daggers receiving an invite to a sexy protest.
Rincewind Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 They joined for the thrill and excitement not to help old ladies across the road.
Daggers Posted 26 March 2012 Posted 26 March 2012 Today's: You can not rely on the police to make correct choices 1 You can not rely on the police to make correct choices 2 ...and Post 34 should be read and re-read by anyone contributing to this thread until they know it word perfectly.

Finnegan Posted 27 March 2012 Posted 27 March 2012 I don't reaaaaally want to contribute I just want to post this. Any excuse tbh.
Parafox Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 Today's: You can not rely on the police to make correct choices 1 A man was sent to prison yesterday for remarks he made on Facebook about Fabrice Muamba. Why was the officer concerned in this (similar) case not even charged with anything? You can't have equality of law when it's patently obvious that your "position" in society makes all the difference to how you get treated.
Manwell Pablo Posted 28 March 2012 Posted 28 March 2012 It is rather interesting that Brazilians seem to run from the police for no apparent reason when they have done nothing wrong. Six armed to the tooth police officers telll me to stand still, I is standing still, and will probably let a nervous fart go.

My guess is, they've seen (or at the very least heard about) a few of their mates getting beaten up, shot or tasered by police and dont wish to suffer the same? That bonus nervous fart might be the difference in escaping

Brazilian police have different standards, ethics, belief systems, moral codes, training, experiences, as do the criminal fraternity in that country (not the training bit... obviously). And that probably makes them as unstable as each other. I don't speak from experience, just what i read about on occasion. Maybe the biscuits were HobNobs. Now that's that I call a biscuit! They don't go soggy and fall in your tea... dunk me!!... Dunk me again...!!

Somebody even set him on fire with hairspray and a cigarette lighter. It's not totally surprising (to me at least) that sometimes they think of their own safety and get a bit trigger happy There is no question that cops should be able to use force when under threat to their own safety, but as you said he was running away, what threat to anyone's safety is running away? The report suggests he may have been drunk or on drugs, but again that in itself is no threat to anybody's safety. Read the article again: Police have provided basic details of the incident. They were alerted by a convenience store in the tourist precinct The Rocks early on Sunday morning that a man had entered the shop and stolen biscuits. He was no longer in the shop when police arrived. Patrols later located a man they believed to be their suspect, with officers eventually using capsicum spray and a Taser to subdue the suspect after a chase. SAPOL policy states that Tasers can only be used "to safely resolve a high risk situation where a person is armed with a weapon and such action is necessary to prevent serious injury or death to any person". That gives me as much evidence I need to say it was another tragic and completely avoidable waste of human life.

A Colombian or Venezuelan copper tells me to stop and I will go like fvck to get somewhere with the best lighting and the most possible witnesses - or outrun them if I can. Bent, incompetent, violent, power-crazed...and South American cops are almost as bad.
Knightonian Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 A (sort of) similar story.... http://thinkprogress...2012/?mobile=nc Basically a young black kid was shot in America by a racist (with a long history) who thought the kid was suspicious just because he was black. The police have done nothing. I can't believe this has genreally been ignored....
