They need to be optimised to attain full capacity each game IMO. From a purely economic perspective, empty seats constitute lost revenue. From a football fans' perspective, it is detrimental to the atmosphere. If they reduce the prices and get full capacity, the additional sales should even out the revenue and then the club can make even more by selling more programmes, beers and pies. EVERYBODY'S HAPPY! It's simple!

It's simple! This. It would easily outweigh the lost revenue, surely makes more sense from a buisness sense and would please fans too!

As a student my season ticket in K works out to just over £5 a game so I can afford to miss a few it still work out cheaper. how much mate for a student season ticket? thinking about getting one for next season

Five years ago, £25 would be considered a joke. In five years at this rate, £25 actually will seem good. It's appalling IMO, I know I compare it to Germany too often but a quick look at it, it's absolutely staggering. I never realised what a state our pricing was until I saw the Germans. Something needs to give over here.

I agree, I think they'd have to slowly ease it in but ticket prices at the minute are seriously a farce.

Something needs to give over here. The Germans have got it nailed on. Somebody posted an article on here a while ago about the Bundesliga clubs and their pricing. I'll try and find it (unless somebody else can help out?) If I remember correctly, some of the clubs' ticket prices include a beer and your train fare!

But on many fronts firms can be ageist, by this I mean if I sit between a 17 year old and a 65 year old I have to pay considerably more than the the other two for no other reason than my age, for the same experience. As I say it's not just football but transport, entertainment etc. Just wondering why this is allowed? The reason you pay more than a 17 year old is because, theoretically- you will be in full time employement, whereas they will more than likely still be at school/college. Therefore your income will be much higher than that of a 17 year old. How much is a ticket in Germany by the way?

People seem to justify the cost on the basis of their love for their club, but prices are becoming more and more ridiculous, just look at our ''platinum'' fixtures. Is there such a thing as a ''platinum'' fixture in the championship? is a Birmingham team relegated from the premiership and releasing 20+ players a ''platinum'' game? is a forest team who earlier in the season couldnt score a goal and are staving off relegation a ''platinum'' fixture? There may be some justification for the prices if the actual product was good (what you were seeing on the pitch). But lets be honest, how many games this season, or the last few seasons have you come away from a game off the back of 90 minutes of ebb and flow high octane football? how many times have you come away from a game exhilerated at the performance of Leicester? seen a goalfest? its the odd game here and there. Of course season tickets provide great savings, but thats assuming youre financially able to justify spending £400+ a calendar year on football, and i wouldnt think someone was any less a fan for not being able to justify that

For one example - Borussia Dortmund, last years champions - a standing ticket behind the goal will set you back € 14,90 at most (stadium plan/ticket prices) - That's about £12.50. Meanwhile, behind the goal for us - mid-table, 2nd tier - for an adult, £28 or £32. Now that's over twice the price for a lower tier of football, how the hell can that be justifiable?
Spudulike Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 I'm just one of, I'm sure, loads of City fans that live outside of the county and travel for matches. It's a 266 mile round trip for me and factor in the cost of petrol (divided by 3, granted) and it becomes an expensive day. Obviously not the clubs fault that I got dragged away from God's own City but all things considered, and as much as I love the club, it's become just too much ps. 16 year-olds at the recent Bristol City match had to pay £25 !! Now that is a rip-off.
MikeyT Posted 29 March 2012 Posted 29 March 2012 I've been to the last 3 home games simply because a mate's dad let me have his season ticket for £10 each game, as he couldn't get to the games due to work commitments. If not for that, I could never go. Just can't afford it. I've only been to 5 games this season. Would absolutely love to go to them all, but not a chance a the moment.

God knows how many people make ends meet at the moment. Fuel prices being the most ridiculous thing at present. Christ.. Imagine a family of four buying season tickets for them all... What's that gonna be? Well over a grand I would assume? How i wish I'd been good enough to be a player rather than a 'watcher' of football... The amount these guys get paid must make them wake up every morning with big grins on their faces id imagine.

I assume that many will lump up on their credit cards to get their season tickets, simply because they cannot do without their Sat afternoon 'feast' of football. However, unless we miraculously get into the play offs this season I wouldn't be surprised to see attendances begin to fall, at least a little, next season. Something has to give and with the cost of everything going up so much (and the 9k tuition fees!) families, especially with older kids, may well literally be priced out of coming.

Prices to high YES way to high and why so we can pay a reputed 40k a week to beckford and the like. Well even if it is 30k a week he is gonna earn more this year than I will in my life and more than probably most will earn. So yes it's way too high and the sooner people realise the better. And how can we stop this Stay Away don't buy season tickets then see how much they need the fans. No club will run off of sky and advertising money alone not even Man U. Sky fvcked all this up and it's all snowballed since. After reflecting on a dire season and yes we can still make it but I don't think we will and if we do really don't deserve too. Wherever we are nxt season I really don't see the club or any club getting any of my money. Just so someone can earn more a year than I will in a life time. The more you think about it the dafter the prices sound. Oh and if we stay down I think nxt season will be our lowest average home attendance for many a year. People really don't have the money to waste on football eating and keeping a car running come first in most peoples thought's. FFS the government wanna charge an extra 20% for a hot pie whats one of them gonna cost next season then lol
