Fourth-placed Brighton can be caught – Pearson

Its every poxy week as well.

I can only remember it being worse with Rob Kelly in charge losing every week and 2 or 3 players coming out each and every week promising to re-double efforts on the training ground and Rob Kelly insisiting they were a 'smashing bunch of lads'. They might well have been sound and I'd no doubt enjoy a beer out with them, but they were sh it weren't they?

Talk of the Rob Kelly era has suddenly made me appreciate the current side a bit more! You're right though, the more you repeat the same lines over and again the more it looks like you're you're trying to convince yourself.

Tell you what.. Let's just win today for a start...

Well on the six out of seven wins needed to get up I would say anything less than a win today and its over.

reason one is we have no chance of winning six on the bounce.

Reason two is we won't get much from Wham or Leeds.

Reason three we are niether good enough or deserve to go up over the whole season.

Reason four as I was saying before xmas it is a to big a job we need tomany teams to go awol.

Fourth is a no way and sixth we will be very very lucky to scrape in.

Really? Even though over the last 8 games we've taken 7 points more than Cardiff and Hull. Six points more than Blackpool, 5 points more than Birmingham and Boro.

Actual statistical analysis (rather than negative guess work) would actually show a similar run of form would get us very close indeed. With a minor upturn for us, or minor downturn for those around us meaning there would be a very real chance of making it. Especially when you factor the number of games our competitors have to play each other still.

It's unlikely we will, mainly because we are playing against teams now who will be parking the bus rather than trying to win. Which we have struggled with this year. But contrary to what you put, we do have the slightest chance, in fact more than that going on current form which you dismiss.

:appl: I will willingly bet that there are fans of clubs above us who are very worried about us. Probably more worried than we have belief - if the two things can be quantified.

Surely this is just taken from the answers given to the questions asked by journalists at the weekly press conference? While there is a chance of making the play offs then journalists will ask questions about making the play offs and then they'll write it up in the most sensationalist way possible. It's not like Nige rang up the Mockery and demanded that they print that we will definitely make the play offs.

I can never understand why people make such a big deal out of these articles/comments.

Yeah whats your excuse?

I just don't think our players have what it takes.

Do you see any Walsh's Elliot's Izzet's or Lennon's in our team and I am not talking skill I'm talking effort and that never say die attitude.

The Foxes never quit came from them do you see it in this team.

And no that's not saying they are crap or not good enough I think alot of them are.

I just don't see that will to win like them four and others in the squad at the time had.

Pearson has caught the LCFC media bug. Probably been rubbing shoulders too much with Neil Danns.

Less talky - more walky. Lets not discuss how it might be nice to actually win some games and make the play offs, and get on with doing it, eh?

this !

Wish people would stop fvcking harping on about the O'neill era... WE ARE IN 2012 NOT 1999!

Who's harping on All I am saying is we don't have that fight and spirit in the team.

And by your reply you do not disagree and the teams that go up will have it.

It's not a delusion of grandeur to think it's possible with the form we are in. You're only saying it because he said it before. But he said it when we'd showed absolutely no kind of form and fans expecting wins.

Nice positive mentality but delusions of grandeur from NP, if we get into the playoffs that is all I care about. Does it make much of a difference if you finish 4th or 6th? I think not because at the end of the day you play the side in question twice. Interesting point about 4-3-3, do or die from NP because we need results.. whether we have the personell or the quality to play 4-3-3 remains to be seen.

I don't think he understands the term 'delusions of grandeur'....Do you just mean delusional?

The story in the Mercury is taken from the post-match interview on Radio Leicester on Tuesday. So is the story today about goalkeepers making the best captains. I listened to both in the car on the way back to the West Mids.

So...Nigel Pearson has said nothing other than answer questions put to him by Ian Stringer. The quote about 4th place was just Pearson pointing out that in his opinion, it is still quite tight and we have every reason to keep trying.

Two points between 4th place and 6th place is quite tight so nothing controversial there.

We've picked up 14pts from the last 8 which is an average of 1.75ppg. If we continue with this form to the end of the season we will finish on 68.25points. Which means current 6th place need just seven points from seven games to guarantee they will finish above us.

Your "actual statistical analysis" relies on almost all of the teams above us finishing the season with sixteen games of relegation form. Are you are on drugs?

In the real world we will need to get to at least 74 points. That means our form needs to be much, much better than it has been in the last eight. We need six wins from seven, as I said.

I'm not on drugs, have you even bothered to look at Brightons and Boros fixtures.

Cardiff have already drawn today, Brighton and boro play each other and Blackpool play Saints. Today is massive for us because a win and we could be well in the mix.

I still think we'll blow it, but it's possible.

Individual teams don't matter when there's ten teams in the mix. For every team that goes on a poor run of form there'll be one who will go on a good run of form, with the end result being that the team in 6th, whoever it is, finishing on or very close to 74 points. The same thing happens every season. Teams move up and down, but the finishing points total for specific position rarely alters by more than a couple of points from the extropolated season average of the team in that position at any time after about half way through the season. We've already seen the pace of 6th drop by two points in the last few weeks, it won't happen again.

So Pearson should be saying "season over and you're all too shit to get in the playoffs"?

Really?

No. He shouldn't be saying that either - that would be a similarly stupid thing to say.

I think you knew that when you posted it and I never suggested it would be a good thing to say.

The point I'm making is that someone at LCFC seems to think that we'd rather hear about how good we might be or how hard we are going to try - than see any sign of it actually happening.

What matters is what you do on the pitch and quite simply LCFC have not been good enough this season. We must have had very similar tripe wheeled out every game. I can understand rent a quote Danns getting involved and some of the other simpleton players, but I'm disappointed NP has succombed and become part of the 'pick one from 5 phrases' LCFC propaganda circus.

Just focus on the next game. Don't talk about it. Don't speculate about play offs. No unnecessary guff, just do it.

We couldn't catch Emile Heskey.

He's nutmegged us, skipped past SSL and bashed it in the top corner.

In the background, NP is headbutting a center back and shaking his head at our delusions of grandeur.

Delusions of bleeding competence more like. Posh have barely kept a clean sheet in 17 years.
