Nigel Pearson has vowed he will get it right at Leicester City.

The frustrated City manager said his team owe the fans after the disappointing 1-0 defeat at Peterborough on Saturday left them facing a huge challenge to reach the play-offs.

Pearson said the defeat hurt him, and that he would be working behind the scenes to make sure City improve for the final six games of the season.

He also warned he would be looking to make changes to his squad in the long-run to turn them into genuine promotion challengers if they fail to reach the play-offs this season.

"I am very frustrated, but I will get it right," said Pearson.

"In the short term we have six games left and we are going to try to win all six. Longer term, I may need to freshen things up a wee bit.

"There is a lot of football to be played between now and the end of the season. There is a lot of hard work to be done.

"I am the same as everyone else. I care an awful lot about how we play as a team. We are representing our club and it is disappointing to lose in that fashion. Games like this certainly hurt.

"I am not going to go overboard publicly, but I will be dealing with things behind the scenes.

"I am disappointed for the fans again. They have been very supportive of us. We put them through quite a bit. We owe them one after the Peterborough game, and there are certain aspects of this performance I am not particularly happy about."

Pearson said he was growing tired of highlighting City's inconsistent performances, and said he was looking for a reaction from his players when they entertain rock-bottom Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, before travelling to Ipswich Town on Monday.

"We didn't do enough to win it," he said of the 1-0 defeat at London Road. "It was a great opportunity, but what disappoints me is the fashion of our defeat.

"The amount of chances we created, it is a shame. We have missed another good opportunity, but we have been saying that all season.

"We are not consistent. The bottom line is we are where we are in the league because of that inconsistency. It was a great chance for us, and we lost a game we shouldn't lose.

"It really is disappointing because there was that much riding on the game, I expect us to do better than that."

He is right. Some of these players are not good enough. Some of our fans are deluded and think that just because St Sven brough these players for over inflated prices that they are good. Many of these players have NEVER been in a top Championship side, it shows, they are not good enough.

Pearson will build a proper team over the summer that we can be proud to watch once again.

He has only had the one window which is renowned for being a rip off anyway.

The man sounds like he is a gonner....

And how exactly do you come to that conclusion? He sounds like a man who is pissed off and frustrated with the players.

You would be if your job was potentially on the line.

Repeating the same the old things all the time "I will get it right" ( classic NP thrase).. There is a lot of hard work to be done"( hard work my ass if performances on the pitch have anything to go by) "we are going to try and win the next 6 games" ( we have only one two games in a row once) etc

I am quite frankly tired of these excuses he is making, as Finners said the dreaded vote of confidence is soon approaching.

One thing is for sure if we still have the misfortune to have the same squad of players next year, the manager could be Ferguson, Clough, O'neil, Shankley etc we will not get promoted with this bunch of over priced, over hyped, unproven, over paid, big egoed average players. That is a simple fact.

The emphasis needs to be on the players and not NP. The players need to get it right - and for me the majority have been a disgrace all season due to their lack of consistency and the regularity in which they have been outplayed by tinpot teams.

For me they have been a total let down and NP needs to make a clear-out, bring in some players he can call his own and get us moving again.

Yes we've been dreadful this season, but we're not far away from play-off positions even now - just shows how poor the level is in this league imo.

If you don't like them, don't read them, nobody forces it upon you. Managers all around the country to a man trot out the same kind of stuff after a win, draw or loss. People only throw their dummies out over it if things aren't going as they want on the pitch.

Same old people constantly over reacting to anything and everything.

He has to be given the time to get it right, I find it astounding that anyone thinks sacking him would be a good idea.

Let him and his team build a squad they are happy with in the summer and see where we are next Christmas.

The trouble is that it isn't really true what you say about players Never being in a top championship side. Konchesky, Nugent, Beckford have all played in the premier league. Mills was in the reading side that made the play off final, Morgan was in the Forest side that made the playoffs. Wellens, Dyer, gallagher and Howard were all in our side that made the play offs. That's pretty much the core of our current team. I'll accept your argument about Peltier and Kaspar, Drinkwater and Marshall but not the others. SSL and Bamba are full international players who don't play for tin pot countries and should be more than able to cope at this level.

To me there's more than just the players not being good enough. Individually they are supposed to be talented but collectively it just hasn't worked. What concerns me is that it hasn't worked under two different managers with two different management styles. That is why I fear we either need yet another clear out and start over again with Pearson or we need to consider yet another manager. Neither is a very appealing option but I don't see a clear way forward at this moment.

Does anybody else find their heart sinks a bit when they read that line "I'll be looking for a reaction" ? Am I the only one who interprets that as "this is the best we've got, I'll be sending out the same players, in the same formation, with the same tactics ..... but I will have shouted at them a lot during the week" ?? Although, to be fair, that might be all he can do right now.

Well because you are fan like me and we care about the affairs of the club, NP on the other hand has no affiliation with the club and this is just a job to him in which he is paid handsomely you could argue the players as well, and ultimately the buck stops with both of them.

If you don't like them, don't read them, nobody forces it upon you. Managers all around the country to a man trot out the same kind of stuff after a win, draw or loss. People only throw their dummies out over it if things aren't going as they want on the pitch.

What essentially riles me is fans thinking everything is going to be rosy, NP is going to get a revamped squad this summer and will lead us to promotion I may myself have fallen under this trap with Sven and last summer's dealings, I would actually just urge peeps to have caution and wait to see the situation unfold . Maybe I am being a bit too over reactionary and taking it too much to heart but when I see something and it is the complete opposite of what I am seeing than that is what pisses me off.

Nugent was a laughing stock at Pompey even to his own fans. Beckfords contribution to Everton is up for debate (rumoured falling out and quickly sold). Konchesky has been decent and been proven so fair enough on that one.

Mills may have been in the playoffs, but has what the Reading fans said not been 100% accurate about him? Morgan Fair enough, Wellens, Dyer, gallagher and Howard get absolutely slated on here by all and sundry for being either not good enough for past is.

Fully agree with this, maybe the underlying problem is that Sven, despite his numerous changes hand to rely on some of Pearson's players and like wise with Pearson when it is clearly the case that the two managers and the players they signed are worlds apart in the football philosophy, tactics, management style etc they are the Chalk and Cheese of football managers.

As I've said before the Thai's need to decide the style of football they want the club to adopt, have a manager they believe will deliver that and make sure it's adopted at every level of the club, if the manager then leaves, hopefully because he's been successful then replace him with a clone in football management terms.

Frankly as James. posted we need a clear strategy for both the business side and the playing side of the club.

Of course this only works if they are intent on being he for a long time.

Who thinks it's all going to be Rosy? I don't think many are taking anything for granted. I don't know if he'll be a success or a failure and I've never said he would be one or the other. I will wait until I think he's had EVERY possible chance given to him before I start making my decision.

Also if you factor in the uncertainty of the ownership, okay those lot on Bentleys are a tad over reactionary but their has been talk "rumors" that the Thais may leave this summer, so that could mean two things i.e liquidation or selling the club on" so any transfer dealings we may do has to be put on hold.

Well if that's the case Pearson will stay exactly where he is.

But they seem to have a competition on there of who can make up the most lies and who can hate Pearson the most.

Well who knows what is going to happen, tbh I am more concerned about the future of the club

True, but I don't think they would be that hasty in their judgement about the ownership issues because that topic is a concern to us all.
