The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 I'm not here for a long time, I'm here for a good time
ScouseFox Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 "Work is the curse of the drinking classes." For the French speakers... "La haine attire la haine." "C’est l’histoire d’un homme qui tombe d’un immeuble de cinquante étages. Le mec au fur et à mesure de sa chute, il se répète sans cesse pour se rassurer : “jusqu’ici tout va bien, jusqu’ici tout va bien, jusqu’ici tout va bien”. Mais l’important c’est pas la chute, c’est l’atterrissage."
OzFox Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 "Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a row" Post match interview after beating Jimmy Connors at the 1980 Masters. Gerulaitis had lost their previous 16 matches.
Leicester_Numan Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Can't remember where it comes from, but, "Victory comes to those who believe"
Captain... Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 There are a couple that I like: "It is not the mistakes you make that define you as a human being, but how you pick yourself up afterwards" (probably paraphrasing it a bit) "Some days you are the statue and some days you are the pigeon." And from the bible (I think): "Treat unto others how you yourself would like to be treated."
Trav Le Bleu Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 The bowler's Holding the batsman's Willey As they come round the corner Juantorena opens his legs and shows them his class.
Reynard Bleu Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. John Quincy Adams

FantasticMrFuchs Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 "Getting A Paragraph Out Of Him Is Like Pulling A Piano Out Of A Pond" - Winter Passing(Film) Very Apt considering I have sat at my desk trying to find the motivation to finish one on my University units and cannot gain focus to complete it!
Raw Dykes Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 And from the bible (I think): "Treat unto others how you yourself would like to be treated." This is the Golden Rule. I think it does appear in the Bible, but it's much older than the Bible. "An early example of the Golden Rule that reflects the Ancient Egyptian concept of Maat appears in the story of The Eloquant Peasant, which dates to the Middle Kingdom (c. 2040–1650 BCE): "Now this is the command: Do to the doer to cause that he do thus to you."" I was watching football on ITV a few years ago. Can't remember who was playing, so I'll just throw any names in. Andy Townsend was commentating on a replay, maybe a penalty shout, and he said this, "Look at this. (Terry) is literally up (Henry)'s backside." LITERALLY! (He certainly wasn't, by the way. That would have made the front pages, I reckon.)
Haydos Posted 10 April 2012 Posted 10 April 2012 I have a book at home called Colemanballs, full of sporting gaffes. Loads of them can be found here http://www.footballsite.co.uk/Statistics/Articles/Colemanballs01.htm
Zingari Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 This ship is unsinkable. The claim that the Titanic ( if that is the reference) was ever considered “unsinkable” is a complete myth. It being called the “unsinkable ship” made for a better story after the event . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17515305

You'll be telling me Father Christmas isn't real and babies don't come from under a cabbage patch, next.

cambridgefox Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 My mate worked for a company in the holidays when he was at uni.The workshop got broken into one evening and the next day the MD gathered everyone round to say if you hear of any tools for sale or know who did it let him know.one lad not known for his brain power put his hand up and said"its going to be one of two things.Burglars or thieves" now that quote was quality.
Zingari Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Are you sure it wasn't actually the Britannic that sank? Contrary to what seems to be the belief that anyone who questions the events of 911 and/or the JFK assassination we don’t actually buy into every single conspiracy theory. But in saying that, there are a few strange events that surround the Titanic (or the Olympic) http://www.shipslife.com/happened-titanic-1912/ Paddy the Pig’s story is indeed quite interesting, but at worst any conspiracy in this is probably no more than a big insurance scam that went spectacularly wrong, albeit a very tragic one. 911 and JFK are far more disturbing.

If a fat bloke comes into your bedroom in the middle of the night asking to empty his sack , throw him out !

That reads like a really bad Google translation. Do you seriously get taken in by this stuff or are you on a wind up? The Truth is Out There (just probably not on shipslife.com)

Guesty Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy. Winston Churchill
