Konchesky sticking the v's up to the fans?

How many kids were watching how he reacted today? What a great role model.

I'm not trying to justify him doing it or claiming that it wasn't unprofessional but I have several issues with this.

1) I'm pretty sure the kids in the crowd heard a lot worse (They can't escape a single thing they hear at a football match).

2) Have you never done anything in the heat of the moment, let alone something as paltry as sticking your fingers up at someone.

3) Put yourself in his shoes, he's not played shit on purpose, he's just lost, he's just lost the shot at the play offs. He's probably had to listen to some tosser shouting at him on the left flank all match.

I didn't say I think he did swear at all the fans, I was at work, this is the first I've heard of the incident! I'm merely saying IF he did swear at all the fans then he should be sacked! As it is I would bs extremely surprised if he had! And it's been cleared up now! It WAS just one dickhead fan who probably deserved it!

He could just be saying that to get away with it. Who knows if he was doing it at everyone in general or not? It was unprofessional, yes, but getting sacked for sticking the fingers up? No chance.

What annoys me is that people seem to think that our players play shit on purpose, that they're "over-paid wankers" and "don't care".

Firstly, the players don't choose their wages. Supply and demand. If you're that bothered about them being over-paid, then don't go to a football match and fund them then. Being well paid doesn't mean it's fine to hurl abuse at them either - I don't go into Banks and shout "Fvcking wankers" at them for 90 minutes. I'd probably be arrested for that. Apparently watching football means it's alright to be a dick.

Secondly, the players don't lose on purpose. **** it, I don't like losing at monopoly, let alone losing anything infront of 30,000 people. They also have a lot more riding on it then the fans do. Just because they lost, it doesn't mean they didn't give it their best. If you think otherwise, you're an idiot.

Thirdly, they aren't entitled to clap the fans, or be courteous to you at all. If they make the effort to, and they just get abused, then I can understand why they would be pissed off. It's insanse to think it's alright to insult someone and then be offended if they do it back.

If you were honestly that bothered about Kids hearing/seeing swearing, then you wouldn't take them to a football ground.

I don't think anyone would blame you if you did :P

now we know the story, konch has apologised and that should just be the end of this matter. very disappointing to lose to millwall (especially when they score their only two shots on target) and finally be out of the play off race but weve got to move on and start the preparations for next season. we can get promotion but some things have to change, hopefully we'll sort them out over the summer and give it a proper good crack.

Just issued an apology on Twitter.

My sincere apologies to all my loyal #LCFC fans for my reaction at the end of the game.just to clear things up the gesture was directed at 1 fan that had abused me at the end of the game and called me all the wankers under the sun, he had got well and truly under my skin.

Sounds fair enough to me. All professional people should rise above this but we are all human and sometimes your patience is pushed to the limit. Paying whatever money does not give anyone the right to abuse anyone. That's a crap argument. I can only guess what kind of person he was aiming that at. Got a pretty good mental image of him.

Do people not think he was as pissed as they were he had just been part of a beaten team and wanted to win.

Prapps the reaction to the loss and the abuse was because he cares and wanted the win as much as us.

Well done KONCH from me a player with feelings and gets stick from them that should love him.

No matter how angry I get at football I don't begin shouting abuse at players at the top of my voice. If I am disappointed with the performance I just don't clap and walk out.

And how many kids heard the abuse.

He cares about the team and the club and did not deserve abuse.

Reminds me of Iain Hume only at left back, had a decent season which has arrested his fall down from the Premier League after being voted Liverpools worst ever left back. Some of these players really do think they are bigger than they are but fair play to him for turning to Twitter to clear things up, loyal fans bit made me chuckle.

If the fans booed him as he came over how do you expect him to react.

Keep on clapping throw his shirt into the crowd, if that was me I would be disgusted just like Konch. Some of our fans are massive idiots, only because we lost and basically our season is now over and they get peed off, and take it out on one of our best players this season, is beyond a joke.

You don't see Doncaster fans booing there team just because they got relegated, or Wolves booing Terry Connor because he hasn't won a game.

But our fans boo one of our best players this season, just because he played poor and we lost.

Well done Paul Konchesky for making a swearing gesture at the idiotic fans who let our club down. I would be livid and probably would of done something like that back aswell. Fans also need to look at facts instead of jumping on the play off bandwagon, Millwall coming into today have done extremely well of late at home, and today's match was never winnable.

Fans got a taste of their own medicine if true, good players like Konchesky can now decide to leave if they want, as they won't wanna stick with a club with fans who boo all the time, if true and Konchesky leaves in the summer the fans are to blame, Konchesky has been our best left-back for some time.

What concerns me more was the total lack of atmosphere today. Our fans were terrible, I'm surprised Konch even came over to applaud us as he could have easily thought nobody turned up. Very poor support, much worse performance than the team today.

The fans were pretty good until the team's apathy started to wear off on everyone.

Ironic king fox says Koch is one of our best players and unreachable says he is average championship player....i agree with both posts, because that's why we are not good enough

But that's what I don't get, when the players are having a bad day is when we should make noise. Today was ten minutes of average noise then it became a library.

Bullshit. The team probably care more then you do.

You seem to have taken on a bizarrely militant attitude to the question of whether the players care or not.

Did you go today? Most of them barely broke a sweat, particularly in the second half.

I don't dispute that the players care to varying degrees - Schmeichel was going ballistic at the end - but 1000 or so people gave up their Sarurday and a lot of money besides to watch these guys mince about today.

If they care more they've got an odd way of showing it.

I wonder what the reaction would have been on here had Mills or Becks had done that. Double standards again from most on here when you think how the other 2 have been villified in certain situations this season.

In my opinion if the fan in question had been giving it out, he deserved to get some back.

It's pathetic some are letting him off so lightly quite frankly. He's supposed to be a role model and he does something like that? Outrageous.

There's a big difference. I'm not saying kids are going to go through their lives not hearing swear words and observing complete idiots, but they are are very observant when it comes to people they respect. If a kid goes to game with his sensible dad, and there are ****** right left and centre saying every expletive under the sun, the kid isn't going to go on to the play ground the next day saying "you be the smelly bloke sat on A14 and I'll be the fat bloke sat on c14" They will copy their idols though - When Rooney swore in the camera that time the kids I work with were lining up to have a go! It's a sad state of affairs.

Fair enough I suppose.

It's the old "chicken and egg" scenario though - should the fans get the players going or vice versa?

No he isn't supposed to be a role model, who says he has GOT to be a role model? That's just what you think.
