Jimothy Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Hendry has retired from Snooker after defeat to Maguire. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/snooker/17917326 End of an era. One of the greatest, if not the greatest player of all time.
StanSP Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Bit shocked at this. Thought he'd go on forever . Definitely one of the greatest.
weluv Posted 1 May 2012 Posted 1 May 2012 Hendry, undoubtedly the greatest of all time. Never usually feel more than 'well, have a nice retirement' for sportsmen of any kind, but have to say I'm devastated Hendry's retired. My earliest memory of snooker is watching him win the 1999 final when I was 10/11ish, and when he was good, he could blow any opponent off the table. With the candidates left in, I loathe O'Sullivan for being a flash d**k, Maguire for beating Hendry, and Carter for being an overgrown 8 year old. So I'm rooting for Robertson to take the title downunder.
isaidno Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Watching carter vs jones this morning. Jones looks pretty good. He's just got a 138 followed by a 132 !
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Hopefully Robbo gets the job done tomorrow. Hopefully the rocket beats him and smashes his snooker cue in his smug Australian face afterwards. Just saying...
Manwell Pablo Posted 2 May 2012 Posted 2 May 2012 Hopefully the rocket beats him and smashes his snooker cue in his smug Australian face afterwards. Just saying... Quite happy with the result, not so happy with the lack of ABH, but I'll stick to the plus points.
Guest shearfox Posted 3 May 2012 Posted 3 May 2012 When Ronnie starts winning the scrappy frames there is no hope for anyone. Usually his Hercules heel but he seems so focused...
ScouseFox Posted 3 May 2012 Posted 3 May 2012 Ronnie 4-0 up and looking supremely comfortable. Started to turn it on towards the end then.
NewburyFox Posted 3 May 2012 Posted 3 May 2012 When Ronnie starts winning the scrappy frames there is no hope for anyone. Usually his Hercules heel but he seems so focused... His what??
isaidno Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 O'sullivans breaks in the last 2 frames were unbelievable
ScouseFox Posted 6 May 2012 Posted 6 May 2012 He was on fire. That 92 (?) or whatever it was, was one of the breaks of the tournament. Then he followed it up with a near perfect 141. Carter must've been hit by that, he was looking right in the game but now Ronnie's got the upper hand.
Matt Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Carter's done well to pull it back abit, still not gonna win I don't think, it's a very big ask. I want Ronnie to win anyway, not really watched much this year, both my bets were out quite early. Serge is there tonight.
ScouseFox Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Ronnie is mid break in the frame he needs to win it. Almost there.
Jimothy Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 That's it Ronnie's done it. 4 times World Champion. Well deserved.
Tom17LCFC Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Thought Carter had a chance when he won 3 on the bounce in the afternoon session, but Ronnie really is a genius, fair play to him!
isaidno Posted 7 May 2012 Posted 7 May 2012 Thoroughly deserved title for ronnie, he's knocked out 3 champions. Different class.
StanSP Posted 8 May 2012 Posted 8 May 2012 The greatest player ever without a doubt. Perhaps one of the most entertaining players, but the greatest?
