The War On Drugs

  1. 1. It's time to...

    • Beef up the war, kill them all, whatever the cost
    • Legalise and tax, the war never worked so let's earn not spend
    • Keep the not-fit-for-purpose status quo
    • Go to the shop, I have the munchies
    • Sack Pearson, it's the only solution to the drugs war

The Presidents of the countries blighted in South America say 'Legalise it'.

The ex-Head of MI6 with responsibility for the war says 'Legalise it'.

The International Institute for Strategic Studies says 'Legalise it'.

The ex-MI5 chief Elizabeth Manningham-Buller says 'Legalise it'.

The ex-Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth says 'Legalise it'.

The UK Bar Council Chairman Nicholas Green QC says 'Legalise it'.

In 2010, Mr Ainsworth, the MP for Coventry North East, described the war on drugs as “nothing short of a disaster”.

They don't know what they are talking about. All drugs should be given to me for fair and equal distribution.

Phube wont like this. Not one bit! You'll be saying legalise the piracy of Nintendo products next.

We all know why the status quo should be maintained:

a) it's apparently REALLY HARD to buy drugs, and if it were changed we'd be buying them like sweets from the corner shop

b) people that don't take drugs now would inevitably start taking them, including our children who obviously have never taken drugs ever

c) Druggies do commit crimes to fund their habit, but that's infinitely better than stopping this happening by prescribing them or whatever because giving people stuff if you're not getting anything yourself is terrible

No idea.

Always liked the idea of taking drugs out of the criminal arena but the legalistion could also be the biggest fcuk up humanity ever made. Would respect who ever had the balls to do it but would have to hope people don't start treating heroin like alcohol.

We've been putting it on our Xmas pudding for years instead of brandy and icing sugar.

I'll edge towards legalisation actually, wandered through the town centre earlier and most people can't look much more of a state than they already do.

We've been putting it on our Xmas pudding for years instead of brandy and icing sugar.

That's good enough for me then.

I think there's a far greater chance the existing war on drugs will be known as the biggest fúckup humanity ever made.

Get rid and start a War On Dogs so we can do away with all the shit on the pavements where I live, I think I'll petition the Council to rename it Dogshit Way.

Needles to say I took drugs

How's it going since your first toke? Have you since gone on a helter skelter demise into a world of sucking dick and mugging grannies for smack?

I've always wondered where governments think they get the authority from to put a blanket ban on individuals taking 'drugs'.

Also the use of the word 'drugs' is itself so misleading. Unless you are willing to talk about the specific substances you take issue with and the specific reasons why, then all the current discourse does is provide ignorant idiots with a big scary taboo sounding screen to hind behind rather than actually having a reasoned debate.

If we`re talking about weed then surely the tax on it is going to be astronomical, pretty much in-line with tobacco because its inhaled. 20 fags are what? £7/8 now, so you`ll all still be getting it illegally from a cheap illicit dealer.

But I do look forward to the health warning on the packet.... "smoking weed causes cancer, memory loss and sporadic giggling"

I'd pay £7/8 for a pack of 20 doobies easy time!

People say that but I'm not so sure. For the same reasons the majority of people buy their fags from the shop rather than the bloke down the pub - quality and the fact that in general we don't like breaking the law so if we can achieve the same thing legally we will prefer that option.

The only good thing about the War On Drugs is that it's the only thing more disorganised than Chocolate Bar Wars.

You were expecting order in the CBW?

When did students become regarded as organised people?

Legalise the lot, tax "recreational drugs" to the hilt, whilst subsidising and re-educating those addicted to harder drugs.

Look at the line Portugal have taken with drug laws

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_policy_of_Portugal

Mega bucks spent on prohibition has failed us over many years, I really think it's time for a sea change with regard to our UK drug policy, can any of you really see it happening under the current government?
