Rincewind Posted 11 May 2012 Author Posted 11 May 2012 Just had a call from Don. He apologised for being abrupt and said my email cleared things up. He's sending me some figures and gave me this site (not looked yet) Not sure if that is spelt right (american/English) There is a 50 catalogue package for £85. When you reach a figure you get another 50 free. A lot of the money is got through getting others to join. You get a web site as well so you can generate sales through that. Anyone ordering from the online catalogue the order is directed to your area so it goes on your sales. So if I was to say would you like to earn £500 pm part time how many of you will say yes?
lavrentis Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 That website doesn't work and getting your own website? That could mean a few different things? Could be having a facebook page, an extra page on Kleneeze or a fully fledged website. Hmm, not sure about this.
dave the caveman Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 So if I was to say would you like to earn £500 pm part time how many of you will say yes? I'd say show me the money. You can earn £500 per month, but you won't.
Jon the Hat Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Well Don is not as stupid as he looked. His sales prospect (you) nearly slipped out of his grasp, but he has come to his senses. What happened to his list of more suitable candidates? I tell you what, he is getting told to piss off by all of them.
21st Century Fox Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 I think you need to ask yourself, if you were having a hard time making significant sales, would you morally be able to drag others into the scheme to help yourself?
stripeyfox Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 I think the real money can come in if you successfully recruit others which given the natural scepticism most people have could be difficult. If you stump up £85 for 50 catalogues then you need to get £425 (20% of £425 - your cut = £ 85) worth of orders just to break even (which of course even then you won't be really breaking even if you count the cost and effort in delivering the catalogues). In order to get the £500/m (i'm assuming one catalogue run per month, on average), you'd need to sell £2500 worth from your 50 catalogues - it may be a bit less because I think the commision goes up when you get past £800 but even so - £2000 of orders from 50 catalogues is an average of £40 order for each catalogue (assuming everyone places an order, which they won't). You could earn £500, but probably not. In reality you need each and every catalogue to place an order for a tenner just to scrape a small profit. For every catalogue that it lost, destroyed or returned without an order, that figure goes up.
HEGGSY Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 I'd say show me the money. You can earn £500 per month, but you won't. I get around £450 a month at 16. I only work 3 days a week. Ken, it seems like to much unwanted hassle. As DavieG said about Avon, you have to put a lot of effort in and rarely get much out of it.
Rincewind Posted 11 May 2012 Author Posted 11 May 2012 I think my stumbling block would be to get others to join. He said he goes in the City Centre with placards and handing out leaflets. Its all promotion. You have to promote it as much as possible and that could mean a lot of hours. For the free package he'd want names of possible candidates. I would still have the blog/web sit. You are helped with the setting up and advertizing but it may mean plugging it on here every day. Just received. Thank you for your thoughtful response Ken. and apologies for my knee jerk reaction. There are many thousands of people in our business who had similar reservations. It's standard practice not to share the company name too soon as for many they will assume they know all about it and terminate the phone call on the spot. Anyway, see the attachments for further enlightenment Ken.

21st Century Fox Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Googling that brings up this.... http://www.titans-online.info/ Possibly the least professional website I've ever seen. It's just a (bad) powerpoint presentation. And Findel PLC is indeed the parent company of Kleeneze.

Anyway, see the attachments for further enlightenment Ken. Ken, completely ignore this. There are billions of websites out there - it means nothing. You could have an amazing e-commerce £50k site but unless you are an SEO genius or have a lot of money (6 figure sums) to pump into marketing you are not going to get any traffic, let alone sales, from that website. It's not worth anything despite what they tell you about it.
Bluefoxtim Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 "People buy 1 in 10 people from our catalogue" Is that some crazy intentional marketing gimmick?
lavrentis Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Its youTube There are probably loads of videos already on youtube doing what your doing
Rincewind Posted 11 May 2012 Author Posted 11 May 2012 He's sent a few PDF things. Can't say I understand them fully. Only thing I can do is get a free assessment. I don't know how honest the Job centre scheme is giving business advice or whether they'll say it's good to get you off the books. My brothers on holiday atm I could send the lot along with the blokes contact number andtell him I have sought a second opinion it just seems that you either have to have hundreds of catalogues or people on your team. That is the way it is done. If it wasn't for the bonuses earned from others sales you would have to take round 1000 cats pw heres what is expected from 3 methods Letterbox posting coming back later to see if they still have it 60p-£1 per cat Letterbox and present. Post and go back later to ask if they received it £1.50-£2.00 per cat Present Knock on door would you like a catet £2.00-£3.00 per cat Think the bonus is around 21% 100 cats 2% loss =98 left Sod it the figures are very optimistic.People are not going to order a tin opener every week. Printed it all off. Its all calculating figures bonuses points etc Just too complicated and far from being part time to be successful you have to devote a lot of time to it and be organized.
stripeyfox Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 It''s a pyramid scheme in all but name. You may make a few quid but the fact they make you cough up for catalogues up front puts all the risk on you. I feel for anyone who wants to work and can't find it but this is just gonna cost you money and end in tears.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 He isn't even part of their management and would be the same rank as you, A Salesmen. I'd get in touch with someone directly with the company if you were interested. But to be honest, No ones going to use a website when it's http://kleenex.com/BIGALSMUSICIMPORIUM Doesn't look professional at all! You'd have to go for: http://bigallsemporium.com The figures you have been given are way out of proportion aswell, ASOS are a well respected brand try them! Its to dodgy and I wouldn't risk it!
Rincewind Posted 11 May 2012 Author Posted 11 May 2012 You are right. Should not have contacted him again really but I did want to know more about it. I think it will be too much. Its not just posting catalogues. You go round posting flyers, car stickers, billboards home demostrating and going to meetings lectures and many other things. It takes over your life. You have to be around when the deliveries around then label the goos log them check them collect the money, log the money work out the % to take off. The because its self-employed probably do your own tax forms. Printed something off Period Activity Tracker It has 30 items listed. You probably don't have to do them all but but why give you a sheet with week 1-4 with boxes to tick/ Anthing from holding events to putting adverts in papers. Who pays for the adverts? It is classed as your business so it is up to you to build it up which is why you recruit others. The more you recruit the more responsibility you have even though your bonuses go up. Now this Don was saying this is getting off your backside and having motivation to earn loadsamoney. TBH the reason I applied was I thought it was a few hours puttingleaflets (dominoes pizzas?) for a hour or so a day. I can't see how it is less work than sitting in a room for 12 hours and going for a walk every hour. OK I'm working for a boss but there is less worry. On that subject my solicier emailed me. She is contacting the company that supposed to have offered me a job after my tribunal and ask them for an update. I have asked about 3 times with no reply. Just need that to tell the job centre some idea of a date.

He does have someone above him because he says he is given customers from online orders from a wide area. Abbey Lane New Parks Corby. Not foot deliveries. Its because he is willing to do it. Not heard of ASOS but just googled it. Will OAP's buy the stuff alongside the egg whisks that they buy? He did say he doesn't want anyone who only joins as a stop gap to other work. So I can say that I can't guarantee the length of time that I'd do it for so would not be able to build my side of the business up to be worthwhile to all.
21st Century Fox Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Ken, you seem like too nice a guy to be able to bend the truth and massage the figures to vulnerable people to get them to join up. Which is a compliment and not a slight on your business skills. I can't imagine this guy is making any serious money, but he's in too deep and desperately trying to recruit others to make it anywhere near worthwhile for him. I imagine he's going to keep trying to lure you in for a while because he thinks you were close to biting.
Rincewind Posted 11 May 2012 Author Posted 11 May 2012 You are right in a way. His example was to say do you want coffee or tea?' You have to say one or the other. So if he says do you want an income of 70 or 500 pw? the answer will be 500. He says you dont say anything else. But he is no different to a salesman selling TV's. They make the money from the 5 year cover. If I said to somwe one the same they would come up with the argument put forward in this thread and I would stumble over the scrtipt that is prepared. I dont think I could pursuade people to join if I was not 100% sure it would work for them and no one can be certain of that.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 11 May 2012 Posted 11 May 2012 Jesus, in addition to my PT business I also work in sales and I hate this kind of guy who give us all a bad name, no wonder people hate me in my job. Sounds like a right dickhead
lcfcadam Posted 12 May 2012 Posted 12 May 2012 I get around £450 a month at 16. I only work 3 days a week. You. ****ing. What? How the fudge are you doing that?
