Mack Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 Kelly's promotion follows Micah Richards's decision not to be part of Hodgson's standby list on the back on his disappointment about being overlooked in favour of Johnson and Phil Jones." What a ****! Johnson's got a dicky toe now and who looks like a right moody **** who will miss out because of his own stroppy attitude....
Jimothy Posted 24 May 2012 Posted 24 May 2012 To be fair, if I was as good a player as Micah Richards and someone told me I was in standby behind Glenn Johnson and Phil Jones, I'd tell them to **** off.
RonnieTodger Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Ruddy out with a broken finger, Butland called up. Can you imagine if we do eventually end up with Jack Butland in goal? What a joke. Fair play for giving him a chance to train with the first team but if things do go tits up and for example, Hart gets injured in the France game, then against Ukraine; Green gets sent off and we have Butland in goal. He is nowhere near our 3rd best keeper (5th if you count Foster & Robinson). Should have taken Fraser Forster or Scott Carson IMO

Should have taken Fraser Forster or Scott Carson IMO Although I'm not disagreeing with your post, I think Foster and Robinson are retired now. The highest level Butland has played at is League Two, when he was on loan at Cheltenham. To be fair, he did make some very good saves, from the evidence on SSN, and he kept 11 clean sheets. He probably isn't ready to go, but he can't be worser than Carson. Forster is a good shout though. And then who have we got? We seem to be short in all positions.
Libertine Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 What a pisser for the lad. Thought we might at least have Fielding as back up tbh. Played at Championship at least.
Corky Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 What a pisser for the lad. Thought we might at least have Fielding as back up tbh. Played at Championship at least. If he was included, thankfully Dyer and Danns are English, going on the two games he played against us.
ScouseFox Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 I'd rather take a cardboard cut out of Ruddy than take Fielding.
Stevosevic Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Carson has done very well in Turkey, should have been the replacement,.
Corky Posted 25 May 2012 Posted 25 May 2012 Carson has done very well in Turkey, should have been the replacement,. Never rated him. I'd have put Fraser Forster in the back-up list. Blimey, we really are short of quality keepers aren't we?
Jimothy Posted 27 May 2012 Posted 27 May 2012 Never rated him. I'd have put Fraser Forster in the back-up list. Blimey, we really are short of quality keepers aren't we? Because he made one mistake in a game against Croatia 5 years ago when McClaren threw him in at the deep end. He was 21 making his competitive international debut in a crucial qualifying game. McClaren had barely even gave him any friendlies, it was his second cap! And I guarantee that's the reason you're counting him out of this squad, because I bet you can't list anything he's done at club level, either for WBA last time he played in England, or for Bursapor that would put him below Fraiser Forster in he pecking order. He's not a bad keeper, just made a high profile error. Would have be perfectly fine as 3rd choice. That's the problem with this country and football, we'll wilfully let the likes of Lampard, Terry and Rooney perform to such a low level at international tournaments, and then welcome them back with open arms 2 years later, yet some players make one error and it's all over for them. People moan we have no keepers. Paul Robinson is a decent keeper, certainly good enough for 3rd choice and I don't think many of the 16 nation would be embarrassed if he was their 3rd choice, but he's been practically hounded into international retirement because of one moment where a Gary Neville backpass bounced over his foot. One moment! Yet the last two tournaments Rooney has been woeful, in fact the last one he did nothing for 360 minutes of football, he might as well have not been there, and now people are gutted he'll be missing for the first 2 matches this summer.
Tielemans63 Posted 28 May 2012 Author Posted 28 May 2012 Gaz Baz out now and Phil Jagielka brought in (who should've been in anyway IMHO). Leaves us a bit short in midfield especially as I'm not convinced Phil Jones can play in midfield (I assume this is why another defender has been called up and not a midfielder).
Jaspa Posted 28 May 2012 Posted 28 May 2012 Dont like Garry Barry myself, got made to look like a Granddad at WC2010 Jag did well the other night, so good move imo
Leicfox Posted 28 May 2012 Posted 28 May 2012 Dont like Garry Barry myself, got made to look like a Granddad at WC2010 Jag did well the other night, so good move imo I'm not a big Barry fan but I do think it's a bit of a loss for England, although sometimes he doesn't always perform on the International scene but that can be said for most of the squad. He's had a pretty decent season for Man City, He doesn't give the ball away often, and can dictate the pace of a game while always keeping the play ticking over. It's a trait sometimes forgotten in a midfielder. I probably would of included Adam Johnson instead of Jagielka but I'd rather have Jag instead of Henderson (Who I thought he was going to pick).
