Defoe's a poor striker. The only reason he's there at all is that he (like Crouch) has managed to get himself a track record of scoring goals at international level by filling his boots against nobodies. He's an especially poor choice if we play one up front. Off the bench he might have some impact, but starting?

Oxlade-Chamberlain has played about 7 or 8 hours of football this season for Arsenal. He's nowhere near ready for a starting role for England. For all his faults, and as much as I bash him as much as anybody else, Walcott is evidently a better selection at this stage.

Assuming everybody's fit, I'd pick:

Hart

Johnson

Cahill

Terry

Cole

Parker

Lampard

Walcott

Gerrard

Young

Carroll

If Lampard doesn't make it, I'd bring Milner in.

Pretty much what ttfn said. Shockingly weak but that's the best XI you'll get from that squad.

yeah i would play him.. ive stuck him in all my dream teams so i dont know how i left him out.. i copied and pasted someone team and changed the defenders and forgot all about him tbh.. young for OC..

We seem to be lacking a defensive midfielder after the losses of Lamps & Barry, Henderson doesn't fill me with optimism

EDIT - every other news outlet is reporting that it probably isn't broken!

really hope it isnt broke, i think cahill would be missed.. dont know why they feel the need to have friendlys so near to a tournament though..

Whatever we do it'll have to something that stops their fantastic passing game and movement. I was shocked at how expansive they are. Definitely not the France I remember.

Far too selfish, needs to iron it out of his game. All good strikers have to be a little selfish, but he takes it to a new level. When we played Chelsea in the Cup he was frustrating me, and he was playing against my team!

Yeah I agree he needs to change his attitude to cement himself in the England team but hes explosive and can change a game in seconds. We havnt got many flair players in the team so think he should've gone
