The correct pronunciation is Jooblee according to one of the TV pundits .

Paul McCartney at a push, he was doing the rounds with the Beatles from 1960 and had their first chart success in 1962.

Stevie Wonder charted from the mid-sixties and Elton John Charted in the late 60s.

So that's 6 which strikes me as quite a high %, I'm not anti-sixties either I was in my teens/early 20s when these acts were around.

I think the above are more synonymous with the 70's TBH, although I agree with your statement that they charted in the 60's initially

Did you know? The word Jubilee is a contraction of the phrase "Jubelieve this shit is still going on?"

:D

The real derivation of the word is from the hebrew "blowing the ram's horn" .I wonder if old Queenie has ever done that ?

Maybe I should've said post- Beatles McCartney. However I draw your attention to... The Frog Chorus, Obla-di Obla-da, Mull of Kintyre, Ebony and Ivory (cheeeeeesy), Wonderful Christmas Time, Let 'em In,

Post Beatles I think Lennon's music was better as well. McCartney has obviously got more number ones and everything now, but Lennon has been dead 32 years this year. I do like some of McCartney's music with Wings; 'Band On The Run' was a great album. But I don't think it's as good as anything Lennon wrote and performed. I like 'Wonderful Christmastime' though!

Really? Tom Jones has a stunning voice. To compare him a Paul McCartney is a joke. Take your blinkers off. McCartney is a great musician, and songwriter but he's never had the voice Jones has. McCartney's has tailed off Jones' hasn't. And I've dipped in and out of The Voice over the past few month, and believe me Jones can still sing high tempo songs.

Tom Jones had a stunning voice, I know. But I've never been a fan of him though (I know he is a good singer) but I don't listen to his music, or follow him. On the other hand, The Beatles are my favourite artist, so of course I'm going to defend McCartney. I'm not going to get into somesort of argument, his voice might not be as good as Tom Jones' but overall McCartney dominates.

Yes, I believe Gary Barlow has.

I think the SNP's success is more due to a lack of decent alternatives. As far as I'm aware they were more interested in becoming part of the Scandinavian bloc than fully-fledged members of Europe anyway.

Whilst I agree the British parties have become detached from Scotland, the SNP use the old tell em what they want to hear tactics to their maximum potential.

In addition they were very much talking about joining the euro, and even going onto continental time not so long ago.

Take a look at Ireland Mr Salmond, you foolish self centred man.

Overall, really enjoyed the weekend's festivities. The concert was good (apart from one or two sound problems, and some excruitiatingly bad "links") and as mentioned earlier, the projection on Buckingham Palace during Madness and the huge Union Jack (Flag - for the pedants) projected on the Palace at the end looked absolutely brilliant.

Hope she reigns for another 10 years so we can have an even bigger, better Jubilee in 2022.

A joke? McCartney has always had a pretty good voice and can easily be mentioned in the same sentence as Tom Jones. I thought they were both very impressive. Cliff Richard was the one that dissapointed me the most. Didn't sound great at all.

Missed all this lovely royal jollyness as I was enjoying some sunshine in Spain, so how was it? I can't be arsed to read 10 pages of it, was it worth the money, a bit of a damp squib, british stoicism in the face of adversty, or everything that is wrong with modern Britain?

From what I saw from Spain and from other people it all seemed like a big let down, did anyone get to the concerts?

My Mum loves the Royals, especially the Queen and Prince Harry. I didn't know just how much she loved them until this bank holiday! It was nearly enough to make me go out and buy a Union Jack blazer.

Never seen her so happy about a national event before.

Was in Paris for the weekend and it was fantastic seeing the jealously in their eyes as we covered the world news with such a magnificent event.

Long live the Queen.
