I am Rod Hull Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 A lovely day somewhat spoilt by my man flu, but with a smidgen of British Bulldog spirit, Earl Grey tea, pea and ham soup and a blanket, I soldiered on.
Phube Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 I love FT. We gone from not having a monarchy to immediately having a President which dissolves parliament and sets up a fascist state. Ireland, and many other countries I assume, have a President, which is notional figurehead, and has all the powers of a wet sponge. I was being facetious.
The Doctor Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Stop being silly. You're talking nonsense and you know it. How so? I pointed out that in the case of revolutions, the military don't always side with the revolutionists, even if the person at the aim of the revolution has clearly gone bat-shit crazy. It was then implied that in such a hypothetical situation in the UK, things would be different. I asked how - what makes the UK different in that respect? There has certainly been a notable absence of massacres in the UK recently Because they've taken a backseat role, we don't technically have a dictator in place, let alone a tyrannical one. If they were to move so as the hypothetical scenario of them being dictator(s) and were to become quite the group of malevolent tyrants - why would the military allegiance be different than in similar scenarios that have already played out?
FoxyPV Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 I was being facetious. Missed that but it's not beyond the realms of possibility on here. Especially from those brainwashed entrenched Royalists - no monarchy = the Fourth Reich
Daggers Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Yup... groups have that amazing ability to get along for the cause... Let's just assume that the only thing this 'group' had to do was to, say, support a 2nd tier football team. I could well imagine them all agreeing on the best cause of action to achieve their collective goal, could you!? Well, with a miserable negative attitude like that you certainly won't be asked to be on the overseeing committee.

Should we stop the Queen from ever appearing live on TV because there is a chance that she might strip off and start vigourously masturbating live on air?
I am Rod Hull Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Its a shame that the weather put the kibosh on the flypast, I like a good aerial display

The Doctor Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Should we stop the Queen from ever appearing live on TV because there is a chance that she might strip off and start vigourously masturbating live on air? I think that's more a reason to make Katy Perry the queen.
ADK Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 I do like having the monarch as head of state, its tradition.
Daggers Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 I think that's more a reason to make Katy Perry the queen. I'm game if she's busy.
The Doctor Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 I'm game if she's busy. Making AoWW the King? Could be.... interesting.
I am Rod Hull Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 What did you all think of the Queens outfit? (and i`m not talking about her family, Daggers) I think her ivory suit was just divine. Kate was radiant as always and the boys looked very dashing in their uniforms.
Phube Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Well, with a miserable negative attitude like that you certainly won't be asked to be on the overseeing committee. Go on... I can make a mean Sunday Roast! Missed that but it's not beyond the realms of possibility on here. Especially from those brainwashed entrenched Royalists - no monarchy = the Fourth Reich Unlike LargeAl's the Monarchy is gonna kill us all, sensible stance!
I am Rod Hull Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Unlike LargeAl's the Monarchy is gonna kill us all, sensible stance! Now thats a Mel Gibson film if ever there was one.
acooling08 Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 If we were to establish a republic and have a president as well as a PM, how would that work? Would the president have the power to overule the governement or vice versa?
Webbo Posted 3 June 2012 Author Posted 3 June 2012 Missed that but it's not beyond the realms of possibility on here. Especially from those brainwashed entrenched Royalists - no monarchy = the Fourth Reich The only person talking about a fascist dictatorship is LargeAl.
FoxyPV Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 If we were to establish a republic and have a president as well as a PM, how would that work? Would the president have the power to overule the governement or vice versa? Although she may have actual political powers, she is, in reality, just a glorified rubber stamp. Any President would be the same. The only person talking about a fascist dictatorship is LargeAl. Being glib and it didn't work.
ousefox Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 If we were to establish a republic and have a president as well as a PM, how would that work? Would the president have the power to overule the governement or vice versa? We would just give the Prime Minister the powers he already has, without the need for the royal assent. Just shows how pointless the Queen is.
AoWW Posted 3 June 2012 Posted 3 June 2012 Making AoWW the King? Could be.... interesting. What's my remuneration package?

Rincewind Posted 4 June 2012 Posted 4 June 2012 My one and only tribute to the Queen. Sixty Not Out Who is the Queen? When all is said and done. A nice old lady who wears nice hats And in life has had a decent run. Her servants do the weekly shopping. She watches Corro when at home. And maybe like you she reads the Sun Whilst seated on the throne.
