Finnegan Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 You say that, but Croatia didn't make easy work of qualifying. In fact, if memory serves, they came second to a poor Greek side. And you're a team in transition that very nearly made a hash of Sweden. Look, I'm not taking a pop, I just don't think people should get carried away because Spain took 80 minutes to score against a very strong, very well motivated Croatia. You're improving under Roy Hodgson and there's hope for improvement but you've still got almost no chance of toppling Spain unless they really don't show up.
The Doctor Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 All this singing despite defeat is a bit embarrassing really. Just go home, collect your benefits and go and sit in grim little pubs where you belong. But England don't finish their campaign until tomorrow.

I think we have a ghost of a chance against Italy if we top the league but Spain's technical ability will be too much. They're not as good as Germany, but they should still have too much for England.

No shame at all and that's the point. They're just so damn good at keeping the ball you're just doomed unless you're very, very clinical on them break Step up Germany.
Guest ttfn Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 But England don't finish their campaign until tomorrow. At least we didn't finish it 8 months ago.
purpleronnie Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Assuming we get through that is, we tend to get carried away before we even get the result needed.
Guest Bilo Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 For me, the Germans don't quite retain the ball as well as Spain but have far more of an edge to them. They'll go on to lift the pot. At least we didn't finish it 8 months ago. before we started.

Feed The Yak!! Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 no offence to the patriots on here but I think Cameroon have a better chance of winning the euros than England
ScouseFox Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 no offence to the patriots on here but I think Cameroon have a better chance of winning the euros than England Winning it and having a chance of beating Spain are very different things.
HEGGSY Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 no offence to the patriots on here but I think Cameroon have a better chance of winning the euros than England Technically, they do not.

Main objective is still to get out of the group and with a far from straight forward game tomorrow against a team who need to beat us, that is what really what most of us should be concerned about, tournement has shown anything can happen already and it's possible for us to totally avoid Spain anyway. I really do not like the look of Italy Ireland gave them trouble in the second half tonight although they too looked to be much improved from the first two games. But as has been said we beat them not so long ago and I have to say now with Villa gone, Torries a shadow of the player he was 2 years ago, and Llorente, Mata and Neg not getting a look in they look to lack the ability to score goals, I would say it's possible for us to turn them over if Rooney finally grabs a tournement bu the scruff of the neck our defense improves
Craig Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 no offence to the patriots on here but I think Cameroon have a better chance of winning the euros than England Equal chance (no chance), maybe. Better chance? Stop talking bollocks.
shen Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 no offence to the patriots on here but I think Cameroon have a better chance of winning the euros than England You're hilarious! And ruddy stupid to boot. The anti-English comments are getting even more tedious than the pro-English ones...
ScouseFox Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Mick McCarthy "all the Irish players are proper goosed" hahahahahahahahan
Guest nathan. Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Hope so, I love watching them play and the german fans have been top notch. Have they? or are you finshing again
marko Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 The same 'poor' Greek side that now faces Germany in the quarters?? What an odd comment... Yes, Shen, the same 'poor' side that now face Germany in the quarters!!! Let's be brutally honest, if the Poles or Russian's were more clinical with the plethora of chances they created the Greek's would be going home. Can you honestly say the Greek's weren't fortunate? They've been convincingly outplayed in their games. So, yes, I stand by my comment that the Greek's are a poor side who've been lucky to make it through the group stages. And you're a team in transition that very nearly made a hash of Sweden. I'm not getting carried away for one minute and I agree, Spain probably will beat us, but I don't think Spain are as wonderful as the world and his wife are making. Croatia had plenty of decent chances tonight and Spain didn't really turn up. I can honestly say I can't remember a Spanish chance of note for the first hour or so. Now I know you'll shoot me down for referring to this, but we beat Spain 1-0, but 8 months ago. I know it was only a friendly, but make no mistake about it, the Spanish would be giving it their all to get a result at Wembley. Whether you agree with me or not, it's not beyond the realms of possibility we could beat Spain, should we advance from the group.

Hmmmmm I have to agree that was the most stupid comment i've read ..................... Join the pundits on the couch i'm sure they would enjoy listening to more idiotic comments like that
MooseBreath Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 If Spain had come into this tournament with no reputation, they'd now have a distinctly average reputation. They haven't been very good. From an England point of view, I think we'll struggle against them as we will struggle against any of the top sides, but I'd fancy my chances against Spain over Italy, Germany or even Portugal on current form. I think a lot of tika-taka fans who were ready to masturbate themselves silly over Spain this summer are fast coming to the conclusion that they may never reach orgasm.

Northants Fox 3 Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 I hope we are never Spain. Boring That's why I was watching the Italy Ireland game, first half may have been 0-0 but it wasn't tedius to watch
ADK Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Spain don't impress me to be honest, if croatia didnt need a goal there it would have been a draw. Spain have only looked in control against ireland but ireland are like a championship team. Would be surprised if spain could beat 3 good teams the way they are playing.
shen Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Yes, Shen, the same 'poor' side that now face Germany in the quarters!!! The Greeks weren't fortunate against Poland. They got a man harshly sent off, they got a goal wrongly chalked off yet pulled themselves level when a man down. That's ruddy determination and nothing else. Besides that, I think Poland were rubbish second half. I don't see how Poland deserved to be ahead of Greece. Russia, a bit like the Netherlands were the masters of their own undoing. I don't disagree that the Russians have superior quality, but I won't take anything away from the Greeks. And they weren't particularly poor in qualifying either. In fact, I can't see how any team that finishes top of a group can be classed as poor.
