sphericalfox Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 http://www.cracked.com/article_19896_the-6-creepiest-lies-food-industry-feeding-you.html Whilst this is a primarily US-centric list, there's plenty of worry about what's being pumped into, taken out of, and cobbled together food-wise in this country. Enjoy your dinner!
stix Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 I've just finished mine so i'll give this a read a little later. There was an unsavoury noise as i read the thread title which was warning enough!
Rincewind Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 I'm only going to have a cold meat salad so not too bothered.
sphericalfox Posted 18 June 2012 Author Posted 18 June 2012 I'm only going to have a cold meat salad so not too bothered. No doubt has meat glue in it
Danizen Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 i love Cracked but i wish they'd keep shit like this to themselves. I'll never enjoy orange juice, again after the last one of these they did.
davieG Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 I'm only going to have a cold meat salad so not too bothered. Most cold meats are 'formed' it says so on the packet and I'm guessing the deli ones are as well so will be glued together, your salad is probably awash with nitrates and insecticides.
davieG Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 The thing is without all this artificial production most of use wouldn't be able to afford most of the foods that that we need, he mentions Salmon for example no way that would be on most peoples tables were it not for these farms. So if you want variety you have to take the rough with the smooth, that's not to say some of the 'appearance padding' shouldn't be banned but people have been brainwashed into believing that these foods have to look perfect.
SystonFox Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 In the chicken case it doesn't state what type of chicken we are talking about, is it tescos blue and white stripe "chicken?" ; chicken lickens chicken that gives you green shit after a skinful or a nice juicy free range chicken from Clarkes of queniborough (used by the birch and Austin Healy!) ???? Bullshit article
act smiley Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Its most supermarket-style battery farmed stuff. Having said that, the UK has some quite strict laws about that compared to some other places, so generally if its British stuff it'll be bulked out with water, while it'll be the continental stuff that has the fats injected into it.
lavrentis Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 No doubt has meat glue in it According to this it is banned in Europe? http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2010/05/eu-bans-meat-glue/

Guest MattP Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 Who cares if meat is bad for you? It's the nicest food on earth? I'd quite happily swop 20 years for eating loads of meat everyday.
MC Prussian Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 Mutations caused by industrial food are fine - four hands are better than two, anyway.
davieG Posted 19 June 2012 Posted 19 June 2012 Mutations caused by industrial food are fine - four hands are better than two, anyway. Maybe but it's a problem trying to find pants with an outsize crotch.

Big Dave Posted 20 June 2012 Posted 20 June 2012 Ignore most of this crap - American web-site and not relevant to the UK!
sphericalfox Posted 20 June 2012 Author Posted 20 June 2012 Ignore most of this crap - American web-site and not relevant to the UK! I did point that out, but as most pre-processed techniques are acquired from US food manufacturers, it still applies to a certain degree.
Parafox Posted 21 June 2012 Posted 21 June 2012 Nah... sensationlist pap. Sure they cite examples through links but .. proof??? I don't see any.

ozleicester Posted 25 June 2012 Posted 25 June 2012 Does it taste as bad as Chlorella My usual name for it is "pond scum".. but I take it in tablet form
lavrentis Posted 25 June 2012 Posted 25 June 2012 My usual name for it is "pond scum".. but I take it in tablet form Aye same now, I originally bought chlorella in a powder but it made me gag when I drank it so I take tablets too now. I rather like Chlorella's ability to "detoxify" which is why I chose it over spirulina
