lovelcfc Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Sorry if this thread has been done but couldn't find it, who do we think will be our starting strikers this season? Assuming we play 4-4-2 I would play beckford and nuge as they seemed to bond well last season but I think if one of them is not performing they will be out straight away both vardy and waggy looked really sharp in training, who would be your first choice ??
Raw Dykes Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 If it's 4-4-2, I think Futacs has to start. I really didn't think Nugent and Beckford looked like a good partnership at all. Futacs and Nuge/Vardy/Beckford for me. If it's a front three, I'd probably go for Vardy - Beckford/Nugent - Marshall.
Mark_w Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 I would play beckford and nuge as they seemed to bond well last season Think I'd probably go with Vardy and Nugent, but if that doesn't work out play Vardy on the left and have Waggy or Futacs slot in alongside Nugent.
foxesfan1989 Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Got a feeling it will be Nugent and Vardy. That or Nugent and Beckford with Vardy in an advanced Mid role? Or wing role? Who knows.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 I'd also like to see Marshall up front as part of a three, he's shown that he's capable of some very impressive strikes. I think that Pearson going to the lengths to secure Vardy, he'll be given a few starts to prove his worth. As it is though I'm thinking hopefully a 3 of Vardy, Nugent and Futacs as standard, with Waggy, Beckford and Marshall all providing good options
kingfox Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 4-4-2. Beckford and Nugent. Vardy and Futacs on bench. But Futacs and Nugent against more physical sides in the division.
Haydos Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Think I'd probably go with Vardy and Nugent, but if that doesn't work out play Vardy on the left and have Waggy or Futacs slot in alongside Nugent. You say that about his post yet you'd unquestionably start a player who has previously played for Fleetwood and has never played in the football league? Brilliant.
cc_star Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Nuge & Vardy for me with Fuctas & Schlupp on the bench Only downside of Nuge & Vardy is that they both prefer the left and cutting in on their right foot (that's the goals I've seen from Vardy anyway, I may be wrong) If it's 433 then there's room for Vardy/Schlupp - Nuge - Beckford again with Fuctas providing a change from the bench, if we need to get the ball forward quicker or are defending with our backs to the wall
dakin_fox Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Nugent and beckford/vardy with futacs or waggy on the bench I would also like to see marshall play just behind the two strikers because as we know he can shoot effectively
Happy Fox Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Futacs and Nugent/Beckford in a 4-4-2 Futacs in a 4-3-3 Vardy/Nugent Beckford
Mark_w Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 You say that about his post yet you'd unquestionably start a player who has previously played for Fleetwood and has never played in the football league? Brilliant. I didn't say that 'about his post', just the fact that people keep telling us that Beckford/Nugent was a great partnership last year when it clearly wasn't. I'd rather Vardy/Nugent or Vardy/Beckford next year than try the same thing that failed last season.
absolutelegend Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 I'm excited to see Vardy play this season. Look good in the training session Sat morning.
Raw Dykes Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 I'm excited to see Vardy play this season. Look good in the training session Sat morning. Same here, and I agree - his finishing really stood out in that training session. I can't wait to see him play a proper match.
Leicester_Numan Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 I see people are still judging the Nugent/Beckford partnership on goals and are completely disregarding the fact that they're both rubbish in the air, can't hold the ball with their back to goal and are quite often static leaving the midfield with nowhere to go except sideways or backwards. It was not a good partnership. I'd start with Futacs and anyone of Nugent/Beckford/Vardy depending on who impresses in the friendlies. Apparently, Beckford is favourite to be the championship top scorer this season
LCFC FOX Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Got to be Nugent and Beckford with Futacs , Vardy and Waghorn on the bench.
brockmyster Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 Nugent and Beckford, both work well together and then depending on what we need off the bench we can turn to Futacs or Vardy for an impact.
m00nie Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 beckford and nugent for me.. vardy probally be out wide if we dont get a winger and futacs as a super sub if were up against it and need a plan b..
eaglandlcfc Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 I think it will be nudgent and vardy as thay where paired 2gether on the open training day but that might just be me looking into things to much don't really rate Beckford as he doesn't like to put any effort in when the opposition are on a counter attack
burni Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/top-goalscorer according to the odds 3 out of the top 10 favorites for top goal scorer are at Leicester in the order of Beckford, Nugent and vardy. what this means in relation to this topic is that these are likely to be our top 3 choices?
