Well Man City are out and they named a strong side, great night for Villa

Villa have a great history in this competition.

Especially that semi-final in 2000.

Really? They had 6 first team regulars starting, then on came Jelavic, Piennar and Neville.

I wouldn't class any of Heitinga, Coleman, Mucha, Naismith, Gueye, Oviedo or Francisco as strong/regular starters. I dunno, looking at their lineups this season they seem to rotate a fair bit. Didn't think it was a strong team personally though.

Strong? Not even a little bit.

Strong enough to beat a weakened Leeds team.

Eh? They lost...

C'mon man

Heitinga, Distin, Fellaini, Mirallas, Naismith and Anichebe started, the rest of the squad wasnt exactly sh1t.

Then on came Pienaar, Jelavic and Neville

Very good result for Leeds, will be keeping an eye on their progress a little more

:P I think i'm just being pedantic. Yeah, obviously a decent result. More surprised with the Man City v Villa score tbh. They should be disappointed with that but it's 'only the league cup' after all.

Arsenal 6-1 Coventry

Carlisle 0-3 Tottenham

Manchester United 2-1 Newcastle

Norwich 1-0 Doncaster

West Brom 1-2 Liverpool (still playing)

Chelsea - United is decent but other than that a pretty poor draw. Still no reward for Bradford either.

Lot of praise for Benitez on Twitter/Liverpool boards tonight. Seems he wasn't lying when he said he'd properly sorted out the youth system there. Lots of new young players on show in the first team. Over half the team were teenagers from the academy and they played pretty well by all accounts.

Be interesting to see how some of them develop, looks like Rodgers is game to give them a lot of first team action.
