He wouldn't get on well at Madrid with the high balls Alonso makes. And Ronaldo would be completely useless in a Barcelona side reliant on quickness of thought and selfless passing. What's your point? Both sides have obviously adopted a style of play that fits their best players. I'm struggling to see what you're trying to suggest?

Have a look at Xavi and Iniesta's assists the last few years, I'm pretty sure Messi consistently has more. I know that doesn't do that much for the argument but it hints that once in the final third he's deadly. He might be a different player in Madrid's system but I don't think he'd be much more ineffective.

I just like the fact that he's fully aware he's massively the best player in any team he'll ever play in. I like people like that.
