Last season, I got into the habit of not watching Spanish games (with a few obvious exceptions) because of all the times the big two won by 4+ goals. The stale atmosphere left me cold. It bored me. I think it bored the players, themselves as goals were just celebrated with applause and a slow jog back to their own half but this season...

Real Madrid are very, very beatable and the games are more exciting to foreigners like me (Barca have gone back to their perfect, boring best). This has to be an argument for La Liga to adopt the Premier League's business model and distribute the TV money more equally. Real and Barca can spend a combined £48M on two squad players whereas great clubs like Deportivo and Valencia can barely survive. I think Real and Barca are definitely worried about it which is why they're pushing so hard for a European Super League.

PS. In amongst all the deserved praise for Messi and Falcao, Ronaldo has just scored his 168th goal in his 168th game for Madrid. That is unbelievable!

PPS. The Spanish economy must be worse than reported, the biggest club in the world can't sell out a weekend game! :xmasblink:

Messi's been part of Barcelona for twelve years now, the side has been built to accompany him and he's established eerie links with Xavi or Iniesta, both geniuses in their own regard, in midfield.

The sheer amount of talent in this Barcelona side is unreal. Question is for how long this magic midfield is going to last and who'll replace it?

Compare that to Atlético, who are pretty much a one-man show, relying on Falcao's form.

A Radamel Falcao, who's in his first season with the other Madrid outfit.

Hardly a fair comparison.

Putting Barcelona and Atlético in the same sentence is like comparing a Porsche with three Ferraris.

The Premier Leauge is healthy, competitive and getting stronger because of the way the TV money is distributed.

Whereas La Liga's wealth is sucked up by just a couple of clubs, and the rest are withering away apart from a couple of exceptions.
