SystonFox Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 Shes really not all that? Just the fact she is a woman based in football
Kitchandro Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 Enjoyed that. I believe chelsea will make more money from their progress in the europa league than Man utd made in the CL, maybe English clubs will start taking it seriously and those who are happy not be in the competition should hang their heads in shame. It's a joke of the competition, who gives a shit who the best second rate team in Europe is?
SystonFox Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 We know what they are We know what they aaaaaarrrrreee The best second rate team in europa is what they are
jonthefox Posted 15 May 2013 Posted 15 May 2013 Shes really not all that? Just the fact she is a woman based in football Change your mind?.
purpleronnie Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 It's a joke of the competition, who gives a shit who the best second rate team in Europe is? the fans of the winning team and the owners counting the money.
Floating Fox Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 It's a joke of the competition, who gives a shit who the best second rate team in Europe is? So you wouldn't give an arm and a tooth (and more) to see Leicester even play in a game in that competition?? Let alone win the bugger!
Fox92 Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-22555151 "An 11-year-old boy from Liverpool shocked friends and family by joining Chelsea players as they collected their Europa League winners' medals" It's a joke of the competition, who gives a shit who the best second rate team in Europe is? I'm not one for this. Just like I don't agree with the opinion that the 'League Cup is a joke'. I think you'd be very happy if Leicester won the Europa League. I know I would. It's a major competition.

We have a strange mentality to cup competitions over here. In Europe the Europa League is taken very seriously, we see it as a joke and waste of time. It's sad that winning a trophy is often mocked.
Kitchandro Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 So you wouldn't give an arm and a tooth (and more) to see Leicester even play in a game in that competition?? Let alone win the bugger! No I'm not bothered, it's a stupid competition for teams who aren't good enough to be with the elite. I'm much more interested in us winning the FA Cup than competing in a competition where the majority of the competitors are nobodies who I haven't heard of. Oh and qualifying from the group means basically nothing as when you come out of it the same amount of teams remain and you're up against a team who are in the competition only because they were too shit to qualify from a different group. It's just a terrible competition designed to fool fans because they can use the phrase 'we're in Europe' when they qualify for it. Anzhi Makhachkala away. Glamour tie.

The league cup is a joke when managers and players don't take it seriously, as is the attitude by most. I'm happy if we win any game, that doesn't mean the Europa League is this great, prestigious competition some people are making out. The difference is, everyone in the league competes in the league cup, but you compete in the Europa League if you're not good enough to finish in the top 4 of the league or not good enough to go through in the Champions League groups. The teams who win it are just failures, it's a consolation for underachievers and a fake little 'it's the taking part that counts' trophy for the also rans.

I can honestly see where you're coming from now you've explained it better. I suppose it's all about opinion, but I would never mock a team for winning a trophy (especially one we've never won). I always say FA Cup is better than the Champions League, but most people probably won't agree.
RowlattsFox Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 The format of the Europa League is wrong, too many games and the fact the Champions League drops outs come into at mid-competition are ridiculous. But I do think there is a place for a European Competition for those teams who don't qualify for the top competition and cup winners. It gives motivation and opportunity for teams to take part in European tournament, who don't get the chance very often. The likes of Swansea and Wigan for example. I'd love it if they had a European Competition for those teams outside the top leagues, I don't know how you'd qualify for it though?
ADK Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 Allowing the losers from the champions league into the competition weakens it. If it was just cup winners and high placed (but not enough for champions league) teams it would be better.
ADK Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 I do wonder if a single European cup format would be better though.
Super_horns Posted 16 May 2013 Posted 16 May 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-22555151 - Young Liverpool fan joins in the celebrations!

At least you have some point to your argument. I don't think the winners are failures though as they've beaten several teams from across the continent to win the trophy? It's not exactly like it's just bene thought of either. It's been around for decades in different formats. I agree completly that teams shouldn't enter after failing in Champions league though. Are you saying you wouldn't have liked the chance as a city fan to visit Madrid if you were old enough back then? Realistically we'll never play champions league football here so it gives us hope that we could still play european football. That doesn't make us a failure...
