BoneDog Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 Special mention to Yossi Benayoun also, who when I saw his name on the team sheet I let out a big groan but he was probably man of the match for me. I love Yossi Benayoun. Won some money one season when I came second in a works fantasy league. Had him, Torres and Berbatov in the team that year and they were all stars.
AjcW Posted 4 April 2013 Posted 4 April 2013 I love Yossi Benayoun. Won some money one season when I came second in a works fantasy league. Had him, Torres and Berbatov in the team that year and they were all stars. He was showing some of the talent he had back then tonight!
SystonFox Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 Yossi is the man who makes Torres play. 19 goals for Torres in a season isn't a bad return for someone labelled a huge flop. Not his fault Chelsea paid £50M is it? Hope Chelsea go on and win the thing
MC Prussian Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 Gotta give credit to Basel for taking the game to White Hart Lane. They had Bale under constant surveillance and limited Spurs to a few shots from long range. Pleasantly surprised at how compact they appeared on the pitch, terrific teamwork by the Swiss side. If only they converted more of their chances, they could go even more places. Next Thursday is a must-watch now, atmosphere at St. Jakob Park will be electric - there are no more tickets available.
purpleronnie Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 I'd be surprised if spurs progress, newcastle are out, all down to chelsea I think.
ADK Posted 5 April 2013 Posted 5 April 2013 Spurs could still do it but without Bale it's unlikely, Adebayor is like a slightly better Beckford.
MC Prussian Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Ladies and gentlemen, the second round of the Quarter Finals are either in full swing or about to start in an hour or two. Chelsea are already 1-0 up at Rubin Kazan and are more than likely through to the next stage. Newcastle play Benfica at home and are trying to overcome a 3-1 deficit from the first leg. Lazio face Fenerbahçe and... The entire city of Basel is in a Red&Blue mood tonight, as the locals take on Spurs. The biggest game in the history of the club since the days of the Champions League a few years back. Qualification for the semi-final would be such a massive coup. Come on, Basel!! The whole country is behind you tonight.
BlueSi13 Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Tottenham Hotspur without Bale and Defoe = Lost and hopeless. This really is a shadow of the side from a month ago.
Corky Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Newcastle out, battled hard but the first leg deficit was too much.
Fox in the North Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Oh dear adebayor. Not your finest game at all!
Corky Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Adebayor's penalty was slightly lower than Charlie Adam's.
marko Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 How on earth is Adebayor still employed as a footballer? He's hopeless.
StanSP Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Adebayor's run up was the best thing I've seen this year. I saw 1 tweet saying it was actually like you're doing the high-knees warm-up thing on the spot .
Super_horns Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Shame for the other Spurs players who worked hard agianst a decent side and with a man less to take it that far. Chelsea certainly won't have it easy in the semis
MC Prussian Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Grande Basel!!! You made us all proud! G'won!! The city of Basel will be celebrating this victory for at least 24 hours - we might also be looking at an extended weekend already.
MC Prussian Posted 12 April 2013 Posted 12 April 2013 God, how I love browsing through the Tottenham forum right now. The change of attitude towards Basel, whom the Spurs fans took all too lightly, is so uplifting. I wish Basel all the best for the rest of the Europa League campaign. Can see them reaching the final, but I do hope they're not getting Chelsea. Not yet.
MC Prussian Posted 12 April 2013 Posted 12 April 2013 Oh, well... The semi-finals are set: Basel - Chelsea Fenerbahçe - Benfica
foxfanazer Posted 12 April 2013 Posted 12 April 2013 Think Chelsea have a good chance of beating Basel. More attacking threat than spurs
