purpleronnie Posted 12 April 2013 Posted 12 April 2013 I would fancy chelsea too but they can be very hit and miss.
MC Prussian Posted 25 April 2013 Posted 25 April 2013 This is going to be a really great season finale. Championship, Champions League and... the Europa League. The dream continues. Basel host Chelsea at home tonight. It's a sell-out and hundreds of thousands will also watch the game on national television. I have no illusions about this matchup. Chelsea are in a league of their own. Maybe Basel rode lady luck a little to often against Spurs. But who knows? Of course a win would be sensational, but I'm just glad a Swiss outfit made it this far. First time in 35 years a football club from our country made it to the Semis. If only we had at least one more team that could emulate their efforts on the European stage... (Well, Grasshopper Club Zurich could be a good shout next season, tellya)
MC Prussian Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Here we go again - back for the second leg at Stamford Bridge. I can't see Basel getting past Chelsea, for that the English side is way too talented and experienced. Basel, with only one proper striker in the lanky Streller, had no chance against Ivanovic and Terry and Chelsea's impressive slow-down tactics in Switzerland a week ago, and I expect a thrashing. Wonder if this is going to be the game where Fernando Torres finally recaptures his form... I fear for the worst. However, with a little bit of luck, you never know what can happen...
StanSP Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Lampard hits the post! Chelsea well on top in the early stages.
MC Prussian Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 And now they've gone behind. Not that much of a surprise, Basel played way better offensively towards the end of the game. Still, Chelsea should've taken a 2-0, 3-0 lead earlier on. G'WON BASEL!!
whoareyaaa Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Need chelsea to win and its happy days, can't see it though. Basel go through 2-0 winners.
AKCJ Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 I want Basel to win down to my hatred of Chelsea but I want Chelsea to go through so the English leagues havn't become completely embarrassing.
AKCJ Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Twitter just exploded with Luiz-related tweets. Apparently it's a stunner, what happened?
Northants Fox 3 Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Fenerbahce have had a player stretchered off in the other game, having been kicked in the face diving in bravely to defend a cross Benfica 3 - 1 up
morris1234 Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Twitter just exploded with Luiz-related tweets. Apparently it's a stunner, what happened? Edge of the box, rolled back by lampard and first time on his instep, bends it left footed into the too corner! Great height and bend and a great strike!
Guest MattP Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Oscar Cardozo must be the most underrated striker in Europe.
MC Prussian Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 I expected nothing less from Chelsea. Professional display for about nine minutes in the second half and cruised from there. Basel have been punching above their weight for a while now, but kudos to making it this far in the Europa League. Thanks to them, Swiss football has gotten some more exposure and publicity and the money as well as the UEFA coefficient points will do nicely. Thank you, FCB.
C-man Posted 2 May 2013 Posted 2 May 2013 Apparently Portugal now above France in the UEFA coefficient. Annoyed me how blasé Chelsea's players were about reaching the final. No celebrations from any of them. Benfica on the other hand were loving it - scenes in Lisbon.

Soar Fox Posted 3 May 2013 Posted 3 May 2013 Sky sports news saying Chelsea will receive 9,800 tickets for the final. What a pathetic amount that is.

StanSP Posted 3 May 2013 Posted 3 May 2013 Where's the final being held? Oakwell? I would have said Wembley with that allocation.
