Squatting set to become a criminal offence

Recommended Posts

Interestingly it appears that this applies retrospectively so anyone squatting prior to 1st Sept automatically committed a criminal offence at midnight on th day of enactment of the law. We've had a few instances of reports so far but not as many as I thought.

Have to feel for them really.

Imagine what a total mess your life would have to be at to even have to consider doing something like it.

I thought squatting was legal because it was a part of human rights in some way

Obviously not.

Failing to see why anyone normal would vote for any of the three main political parties, seems to be something come out of the Cons everyday now, the Lib Dems have done themselves right in and that Miliband just doesn't look like a PM, add to that Ed 'Talk to everyone like a toddler' Balls

so they want to live in someone elses home free of charge against the will of the owner of that property.... and thats apparently ok with some people...

Yet when they get 'offered' a free room, colour tv and 3 square meals a day- better than a dusty warehouse with no electricity! ( jail) FREE of charge ( to them) its suddenly wrong. This isnt about money this is about people wanting to do what the heck they like without giving a crap for anyone else.

And yet amazingly so called 'rich' people get the blame for it

I found this 'advice' for people considering squatting"

Form a group. You can squat by yourself but it is preferable to squat with at least two people, especially in a rural area. That said, it is usually best to build a small community or at least have a couple friends with you to help defend the property against thieves and other threats and to share the work and expenses of maintaining the place.

lol

The bloody cheek!

I think you should be allowed to assume ownership of anything you want regardless of who it belongs to

Does that not already happen in terms of large corporations and governments?

It hasn't happened to me, but it might have happened to other people I suppose. I'm just looking forward to taking ownership of my neighbours 911 later. I can't afford one, so there's nothing wrong with me taking his. I'll probably crash it too just for shits and giggles.

If you were taller and funnier, you could do 'stand up.'

With your ability to offer such deep penetration and killer blows, you could easily be a gay porn star.

And a virtual middleclass reacharound from Webbo.

Quel surprise.

Oh and I love the fact that you thought 'gay' porn star would be somehow a greater insult.

We live in a capitalist society that protects property - protects property over human life. I'm not suggesting squatting is great for one moment and in very few cases it can be justified or tolerated, however sending those with the least life opportunities to prison who's alternatives for shelter are bleak and limited surely can't be the right answer?
