I am Rod Hull Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 has anyone been there, im thinking of taking the little one, herd ''of the grape vine'' its meant to be ''quite good'' just looking for people that have been there and there thoughts on what it was like and if it;s good for the kids... Lovely place, soft sand, slow and easy, wet sea and wasps. I`v not been for over 10 years but it always came across as a nice, slow, family type of place with some good walks (instead of the crappy arcade type resort) The wifes gran had a bungalow about 100 yards from the beach (shes dead now but we got £1000 from the will, we spent it on a big fridge, big tele and mock oak wood laminate flooring for the front room) *EDIT - You and the little one will love it, its a lovely place to holiday
MooseBreath Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 there's no way you got all that for a grand
I am Rod Hull Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 there's no way you got all that for a grand Fridge £250 Tele £300 Flooring £150ish Things were so much cheaper under President Blair (My mrs says it was 14 years ago so Hunstanton is probably full of immigrant African war lords now on JSA)
FoxesAreBlue Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 Random Fact: Hunstanton the only EAST Coast resort that faces WEST. You'll sleep well tonight.
Voll Blau Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 It's got the sea, what more could any Chizzit want?
Northants Fox 3 Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 Random Fact: Hunstanton the only West Coast resort that faces east. You'll sleep well tonight. You got that fact the wrong way round .....It's an East Coast Town that faces West
FoxesAreBlue Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 You got that fact the wrong way round .....It's an East Coast Town that faces West SHIT!! Edited
Northants Fox 3 Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 It's got the sea, what more could any Chizzit want? It's actually the Wash, Skegness is almost on the opposite side, it's just to the right as you look across the Bay. There is another fact about the town to the North of the town there are Cliffs and they are two shades of red
stripeyfox Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Sunny Hunny is a great place for the kids . much nicer than Skegness in my opinion. Searles is a good camping and caravan sites if that's your thing.
Raj Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 We took our ittle un recently. Old Hunstanton is the lovely beach nr the lighthouse. Hunstanton itself is like an upmarket Skeggie(not saying much about Skeggie granted!!!) Lots of shops n stuff and ikklr rides, amusements etc... Top stuff!
rico Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Wells-on-Sea not too far from there either, that's got a lovely beach and the kids can go 'crabbing'
Guest Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 It's great. a little windy but great. Sea goes out a long way so be a little careful with young'uns and take them out on the amphibious vehicle - great fun.
Guest Col city fan Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Mi mum used to live on the North Norfolk coast. One of the nicest parts of England IMO. Hunstanton is your typical Victorian seaside town... smashing in the summer, dead in the winter. Closest seaside place to Leicester (in terms of miles) I believe and great for a motorbike blast. Get there, bag of chips, ride home...
jonthefox Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Its ok for a day, but anything more turns in to a living nightmare.
Raw Dykes Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 I'm sure I went on holiday there as a kid and enjoyed it. I definitely went to Cromer, just East of there. We stayed at Kelling Heath which was brilliant. This is going back about 20 years, but I'm sure it must still be one of the nicest parts of the country.
Babylon Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Went there almost every summer as a child and loved it. Went back a few years ago and didn't think it had changed. We always used to stay in old Hunstanton, lovely beach and walk. You have pitch and putt, crazy golf and amusements, all the usual stuff, and best of all the joke shop which I must have spent most of my time in as a kid.
Zingari Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Wells-on-Sea not too far from there either, that's got a lovely beach and the kids can go 'crabbing' some of the most memorable holidays of my youth involved catching crabs .

Ross-Kemp Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 I stayed there last year for a week, get yourself over to Cromer and wells-on-sea like people have said. A week in Hunstanton will leave you suicidal.
davieG Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 some of the most memorable holidays of my youth involved catching crabs . You should have kept away from those public toilets.
NiftyFox Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Been there twice, its only busy one year of the week which is in the summer where a tennis tournament is held and loads of parties happen for teenagers.
Zingari Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 You should have kept away from those public toilets. There's no use standing on the toilet seat. The crabs in here can jump 6 feet. There's no use going in the one next door. The ones in there jump 6 foot four. toilet door and wall poetry is but a dying artform these days
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 Went to Mundesley, just down the coast from Hunstanton earlier this year, lovely if you like the quiet holiday sort of thing
