(here comes the "however") HOWEVER, it can be good to push your body through new barriers, I assume from the fact that you hate 10k that you have ran it before - perhaps try aiming for an ambitios new PB and set yourself a time limit to hit it. Or if you really do hate it that much, get a new group of running mates!

If it is for purely superficial reasons then no it isn't OK, just remember you can't judge all 10k races by those that you have experienced, even if every 10k so far has been a cvnt doesn't mean they all are just because they are 10k. I think you need to improve your tolerance for longer races.
