Swearing at the police

This is not about a few bad apples unless you think the bad apples are the senior cops who decided this was not a serious.matter? Or the senior cops at the police federation who took down a minister for their own political gain? How about when the bad apples are running the show?

Surprise 1: The police lied

Surprise 2: Senior police try to cover for the liars

Surprise 3: Police then wonder why the public distrust/dislike them.

I actually know a police officer and he is a very hard working and principled guy. But the organisation in itself just seems slimy.

Kinda split on this one.

On the one hand it's pretty clear the fuzz lied about what exactly was said and then tried to cover it up, which is not behaviour that you want from a police service that should be squeaky clean.

On the other hand, the MP involved was a Tory and therefore an cvnt who probably did think about the term 'pleb' even if he didn't say it, so he should be open to any kind of personality attack.  :P Also, does anyone else find a perverse irony in the fact that the party whose political leanings are mostly authoritarian are the ones falling out with law and order authority figures here?

In all seriousness, there does need to be more accountability for the police in this country, as from the posts above this kind of thing hardly seems to be a unique phenomenon.

I suspect you to be paranoid, plus very anti police, as other posts you have made infer. My hunch tells me you are an ex con., or have been in biggish trouble with them. These types always come out with crass garbage. Any opportunity to give them a verbal bashing will do.

'these types' and 'crass garbage' and 'verbal bashing'

I refer you to your NP posts.

As my Grandfather stated the public view of policing in this country changed along with the name. It was previously a Police Service nowadays known as the Police Force. Make of that what you will.

Wrong, you work for them don't you? I give you personal permission to look me up if you want.

They conducted a lie to try and discredit and lose a man his job for political reasons, the same people expected to give evidence in court and be believed, they should be standing trial themselves.

The public have lost confidence in the police force and calling anyone paranoid who wants a responsible law enforcement body that is accountable for it's actions won't do you any favours.

Very strange that you look for every opportunity to knock them.

To say the public has lost faith in the police is utter rubbish. You always hear the bad side, and never the vast majority of good they do, because that doesn't make news.

There are "bad apples" in all walks of life, and I agree they need weeding out. My experience, for what it's worth, is that the police do a fantastic job, and I am proud to be associated with them.

I'm certain you've said previously that you'd knock someone out for standing in front of you at the football. Doesn't surprise me one bit.

Every opportunity? I can't remember the last time I mentioned the Police on here.

I'd say a huge proportion has lose faith in the Police, this isn't the first or the last time and whilst a few bad apples on the ground is expected, this is going far higher than that and leads to some senior officers being implicated who should know far better.

I think there is a perception that the police are not held to account for their actions. Whether it's killing a civilian or using racist language or lying or trying to pin a crime on someone who is innocent. They seem to know how to play the system they are a part of to make sure none of them ever gets convicted of anything.

After a load of abuse, and throwing a punch at me first. I asked him to sit in his seat, like everyone else was. So chummy, get your facts right.

Maybe you could share that advice with your bent mates in the force.

This is fantastic coverage on Sky News of these three coppers squirming.

For the first time very impressed by Keith Vaz as well.

When you can make Keith Vaz look trustworthy you know you're guilty as ****.

They are covering up, a cover up of a cover up.

How three senior officers can claim such naivety is an embarrassment. To deny they misled the public and that the IPCC are wrong AND their senior investigating officer is wrong AND that we the public are also mistaken is unbelievable.
