Bayfox Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Now I know it's not fully Leicester Related but CPFC have given permission to Bolton to talk to Freedman. Good for us this weekend? A distraction for the players at CPFC or will it Bring out that Backs to the Wall sort of attitude, that a change in manager sometimes does?
foxesfan1989 Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 If I were him I wouldn't go. He has got Palace looking like promotion contenders.
FrankieADZ Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 on the move...personally I think it would be a bad 1 for him, hes doing a great job atm with Palace...going Bolton kinda feels like a step backwards...as Bolton imo...need rebuilding & seem to have a few "Big heads" in there team I think this could work in our benefit in a way; might well disrupt there squad; but in another way it could give the Palace players something to prove...
Harry - LCFC Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Palace are better than Bolton. Similar attendances too, plus Freedman is a Palace fan isn't he? Or he at least has a strong connection with the club. I certainly wouldn't leave in his position, I imagine Bolton will remain in the championship for a long time.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Botlotn arguably have a a better squad, but in terms of attendances and size of club they are very similar. I think he should stay.
AKCJ Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 He'll go now. Palace should have issued a hands-off warning should they have wanted to keep him. Not the best way to reward a manager that has you playing some of the most entertaining football in England in terms of goals. Good news for us, though.
Bayfox Posted 22 October 2012 Author Posted 22 October 2012 I think I'm right in saying palace had a decent start to last season and fell away, but if I was in his shoes I wouldn't leave, he's going to get a lot more time if he stays with palace being an ex player and they have realistic aims. Bolton expectation is too high, like a lot of other clubs, but it hardly seems 5 mins since the Bolton chairman was saying how coyle was the only choice for the job, he's the right man, has bolton in his heart etc, then they get rid.

On the other hand there's been plenty of managers get pissed off because they weren't allowed to speak to another interested club, depends under what circumstances you agree and what you say to the manager same would apply to a player. Let them know you don't want them to go but out of respect for them you let them know of any offers hoping your treatment of them is sufficient to keep them. Saying no and then the approach becomes public can be much more damaging.

Wasn't he also a big advocate of a closed shop PL when they were in it, I hope they get relegated
Guest BlueBrett Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Why on earth would he want to go to Bolton? Can't see many footballing reasons and plus he'd have to move from London to Lancashire. Talk about a step backwards

FrankieADZ Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Wasn't he also a big advocate of a closed shop PL when they were in it, I hope they get relegated havent they also been wanting to get Big Sam back? thats what I read a few days after the Coyle sacking. maybe they should get Megson back....or I hear Peter Taylor is needing a new job too.
z-layrex Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 This would be a step back for Dougie. I don't understand.
kingfox Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Where was Freedman on your Next Manager for Bolton Poll, LeicesterPool? Nowhere, not good enough mate.
z-layrex Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Crystal Palace FC â€@Official_CPFC Permission has not been granted by #cpfc for Bolton to speak with manager Dougie Freedman

kingfox Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Oh refused permission I will let you off LeicesterPool for the time being
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Palace are a bigger and more likeable club than Bolton. Bolton is a shithole and London is London. And Freedman loves Palace. Bolton have more potential in the short term as they have a better squad but they're a nothing club who will be a Championship club for some time I think. I think he should stay.
anotherharboroughfox Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Sky Sports News â€@SkySportsNews Crystal Palace refuse Bolton permission to speak to Dougie Freedman over managerial vacancy.
Fox92 Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 I think he has suprised a lot of people, including me. They were relegation favourites when he took over the other year, but he has made them into a decent Championship team, currently sitting in the top 6. Bolton would be a totally different job for him.

Croydon is hardly Beverly Hills either... Palace, after showing their best form in years, had a local derby on Saturday which attracted a bumper crowd of SIXTEEN thousand. Hard to see how they're a bigger club than one who have spent the last decade in the top flight. But Freedman's settled and well respected at Palace. Why should he think of looking anywhere else right now?
foxesfan1989 Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Now he HAS been allowed permission. So 4 hours ago they issue a statement saying hands off and now its all change? Football eh.

Yep, was too busy staring at Kirsty Gallacher's cleavage when the news broke though. Don't blame them for going for Freedman, did very well last season in parts, and has had a fantastic start to this season. Disappointed in LeicesterPool though, for not putting Freedman down on his list.
z-layrex Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Neil Ashton â€@neilashton_ @Joe_Mesure palace are looking for a new manager
BHAFC Braders Posted 22 October 2012 Posted 22 October 2012 Can't blame him to be fair - start of the season their fans were calling him all the names under the sun and calling on him to go. he's worked wonders there with a lot of youngsters and journeymen and as much as it hurts to say was fully deserved of his manager of the month last month. plus Bolton have more of a setup to survive in the Premiership when they claw themselves out of this league. Good move for him.
