ozleicester Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Im pretty sure there are thousands of these kind of things out there, but i cant remember them, so maybe others would like to join in? Products manufactured by one company and rebadged for another... you know the kind of thing. The "new" Toyota 86GTS is the same as the "new" Subaru BRZ http://news.drive.co...0713-2213z.html Care to join in.... what is the same?
Alexikokopops Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 On cars there's the Citroen C1, Peugeot 107 and Toyota Aygo. All made in the same place with some very slight modifications to body work
Captain... Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 almost Everything own brand is exactly the same as a brand but they can sell it so much cheaper because they cut down on the research, packaging and marketing side of it.
MattyFromLE Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Fiesta's and that hideous Mazda car were the same weren't they?
pSinatra Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 The Ford is reliable with cheap parts The Seat is cheaper, but doesn't hold it's value The VW is typically German & well-built All built in the same factory in Portugal
Orkneyfox Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 In the 70's I worked in a TV factory near Fareham. All the TVs were the same inside, Bush, Ferguson HMV etc, all the same.
Saxondale Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 DFS, SCS and all the other high street sofa brands. All cobbled together badly by pissed people in dirty assembly plants in the Mansfield area. PS. Never, ever buy a sofa from the likes of DFS or SCS - either spend more on something proper or buy as cheap as possible. The stuff they sell is the same quality as the cheapest stuff but with a vastly inflated price. If you spend £1,000 on a sofa, you'll get about £150 worth. The lad who sold it to you will get £50, or probably £150 if he's persuaded you to have Scotchgard and all that other shite. That 0% finance they offer? Simply built into the cost - on a £1,000 sofa, they'll be paying the finance company approximately £200 in subsidy. "ALLEGEDLY"

TV's these days nearly all have PCB's and internal electronics made by JVC DFS, SCS and all the other high street sofa brands. I smashed up a DFS sofa once to get it to the tip. It really was a cheap boxwood frame with a very thin layer of foam padding on the armrests, shaped plywood to give it some contours and held together by industrial staples. Utter crap.
Raw Dykes Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 The Peugeot 106 and Citroen Saxo were the same car with minor differences. VW own Seat, and their cars use a lot of the same parts. Seats are made deliberately uglier than VWs by the designers, as the Seats are cheaper.

Saxondale Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 DFS is in Darley Dale, Matlock. The head office is but they don't make anything there, it's sub-contracted out to various manufacturers, who they pay a pittance. I smashed up a DFS sofa once to get it to the tip. It really was a cheap boxwood frame with a very thin layer of foam padding on the armrests, shaped plywood to give it some contours and held together by industrial staples. Utter crap. Yep, complete rubbish.

Wakeyfox Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 My mate (who was quite pissed) once put some washing up liquid between 2 leather cushions on a dfs sofa and shagged it - said it felt the same as his missus
AyewJoking Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 My mate (who was quite pissed) once put some washing up liquid between 2 leather cushions on a dfs sofa and shagged it - said it felt the same as his missus that would be funny if his missus wasnt your mum
Saxondale Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 There are far too many commonalities in car manufacturing to mention. Most of them all share the same engines these days anyway. Eg. The smallest BMW diesels are a JV with Peugeot / Citroen and also found in some Fords, the Vauxhall CDTi / SAAB TiD diesel is the same as the FIAT JTD engine, Renaults and Nissans all share the same engines now.

Saxondale Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Is this true! Just took delivery of mine and had scotch guarded ! Not saying it's not worth having, just that they make a fortune on add-on products. My mate (who was quite pissed) once put some washing up liquid between 2 leather cushions on a dfs sofa and shagged it - said it felt the same as his missus Let's hope Wakeyfox's mate had Scotchgard.
Carl the Llama Posted 15 November 2012 Posted 15 November 2012 Bastard, I've just had to try and explain my laughing/coughing fit in the middle of a very serious meeting. Why are you even surfing the internet in the middle of a very serious meeting?
