This is a poignant reminder of my father, Alf.

He was never much into music (Bagpipes and Melanie Safka aside) but he really had a thing about Steeleye Span; so much so that he actually took himself off to the De Montfort Hall to see them sometime around this era. I can picture him now in his best suit and tie - he must have stood out like a sore thumb.

Tomorrow night on Sky Arts (Sat) at 21:00 hrs a full show on the man who made Bowie in the 70s

Mick Ronson, one of the most underated musicians of the era

It is apt that this appears under Lou Reed which Ronson and Bowie arranged and produced on Transformer

I hope it lives up to the billing, never got to see him live but his solo on Moonage Daydream lives long in the memory

RIP Ronno

Ps: If you ever get to hear anything with him playing with Ian Hunter, early Bowie or Bob Dylan you'll understand what I mean.   :worship:

Genuine classic.

Like most Scots, liked a drink. Remember Billy Connelly telling a story about him drinking white Russians for breakfast in his 40's. That really is Rock n Roll! Was never going to see old age I suppose.

Before this lot became mega stars they released an album On the Third Day

I got it and was sold on how close it sounded to the The Beatles..... Obviously they went on to greater things

But listen to Jeff on this track you'll see what I mean
