ozleicester Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 Was just cruising the favourite cereal topic and saw mention of the "washing up bowl". Now this is an implement that has confused me for a couple of years now. When we were in the UK in 10/11 we discovered that all washing up takes place..in a bowl.. in the sink, even the houses we rented came with a bowl to put in the sink. My question is... why? whats with the bowl in the sink?, surely thats what the sink is for?
ozleicester Posted 17 January 2013 Author Posted 17 January 2013 Dishwashers, its the way forward. Do they come with a bowl?
jonthefox Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 Do they come with a bowl? No, but you need the bowl for the things the dishwasher can't wash.
indierich06 Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 Get rid of em! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/1056364.stm

yorkie1999 Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 Everyone knows this, its for peeling your suds in!! Or when your bowls full of pots you can take it out and fill your sink up with more pots hence doubling its capacity. Or to stop the old enamel sinks from getting black marks on them from steel pots and pans.

FoxesAreBlue Posted 17 January 2013 Posted 17 January 2013 Never used the bowl, always the sink and found it odd that everybody I know uses the bowl!
Webbo Posted 18 January 2013 Posted 18 January 2013 *Serious mode* It uses less (hot)water that way ,saving water and energy.

Ah but what about the energy and polution used in making that plastic bowl and you know it's not bio degradable so when it cracks it will be around for a thousand years , hope you are proud of your self.
Charl91 Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 I always thought the same, but I have found a use. Say you have filled the sink with hot soapy water and then you realise you want to pour something down the sink. If you don't have a bowl in, then you're screwed!
FoxesAreBlue Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 *Serious mode* It uses less (hot)water that way ,saving water and energy. Depends how much you fill the sink! BOOOM Stick that in your pipe!
Soar Fox Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 So thinks don't smash if something slips out your hand.

Leicester Lass Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Thought this thread was going to be about Ben Marshall's latest haircut.
Mike Oxlong Posted 19 January 2013 Posted 19 January 2013 Two girls one bowl. Same principle, more mess.
