Grewks Posted 22 January 2013 Share Posted 22 January 2013 Thought he was an excellent player during our first season back in the championship, one of the best midfielders in the championship that year. But lack of playing time, due to the long term injury he had, as well as not always being picked by sousa/sven, has resulted in him going backwards. He was a great servant to the club, and to all that say he had a 'negative influence', why did pearson put up with him then? He got rid of mills/beckford for the same reason, but not wellens?? But like all players, there time does come to an end, and i wish him well. Admittedly, he wasn't great at shooting, but he was our Joe allen in a way, just played the simple game for the majority of the time and kept things ticking over, just like drinky is doing now. Kitchandro Posted 22 January 2013 Share Posted 22 January 2013 Somebody said once about Wellens: 'He's a diver. But he's our diver'. Never a truer word spoken. People who say that's not the kind of player who should ever have been playing for Leicester obviously don't remember Izzet very clearly
Dan LCFC Posted 22 January 2013 Share Posted 22 January 2013 Firmly in the camp that once rated Wellens, thought he was excellent in the play-off season and had an impressive range of passing, did well the following year considering we changed about a million players but ever since then he'd been found wanting and it's simply a case of his legs going. Liked him but his time's up now.
Dan LCFC Posted 22 January 2013 Share Posted 22 January 2013 So if he was not a favourite you are not a loyal fan. FFS. Where the hell does it say that? People are playing this card far too easily these days. Rise well above people who claim you're not "loyal" when you know full-well you are. Happy Fox Posted 23 January 2013 Share Posted 23 January 2013 Will be going out on loan till the end of the season according http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/leicester_city_s_richie_wellens_set_for_loan_spell_1_1804462 FIVE Championship clubs are chasing former Ipswich Town loanee Richie Wellens, but we understand Ipswich Town are not one of them. Despite having another year to run on his deal with the Foxes, the former Doncaster Rovers schemer is available for a temporary switch away from Leicester until the end of the current campaign, with his chances limited at the King Power Stadium. A source close to Wellens revealed the midfielder was weighing up his options and is likely to make a decision in the next couple of days, but revealed that Town had not been in contact with the player. Raw Dykes Posted 24 January 2013 Share Posted 24 January 2013 Leaves us a bit short in central midfield if James Drinkwater or King get injured, I assume someone is coming in I agree, but I reckon NP would probably use the loan market if that happens. muzzy1981 Posted 24 January 2013 Share Posted 24 January 2013 If this happens then i'd have thought we would get a loanee in. Got to be someone at Man Utd knocking around. I noticed Lindgard was on the bench for Utd at the wknd must be pretty good. Same old same old but would be good if we a loanee who is a bit beefier!!! Some city fans will never forgive or forget how little he tried & how poorly he played last season.... It was unforgivable ...... ........... Vardinhio Posted 28 January 2013 Share Posted 28 January 2013 he'll be struggling for a move after that performance. I honestly don't think he's even good enough for the Championship anymore. His legs have totally gone.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 28 January 2013 Share Posted 28 January 2013 he'll be struggling for a move after that performance. I honestly don't think he's even good enough for the Championship anymore. His legs have totally gone. See how you fair after not playing in 3 months? I don't think he should be in consideration for the first team or even the bench but he gets a ridiculous amount of undeserved abuse. He is probably past his best now and his legs won't be up to this level any more, but to judge the man solely on that on the back of that game, being out of our team for 9 months, is ridiculous. Vardinhio Posted 29 January 2013 Share Posted 29 January 2013 the problem is we don't have the luxury to give him a free ride in our team and I don't think any team in the champ does. I think he will take a step down at some point and probably end up back in the champ with a team like donny, sheff utd etc.
mackiepas Posted 29 January 2013 Share Posted 29 January 2013 It's disgraceful the way so called Leicester supporters treat our players. Have an opinion yes, but have a bit more respect for a player that has served us well.
