Guest Posted 30 January 2013 Posted 30 January 2013 I've a friend looking for rental accommodation for a year with work in Whetstone. large house, good area, rental price probably not a problem. What villages are recommended out that way? Willoughby? Kibworth? used to be nice places where else do you suggest? Thanks
rico Posted 30 January 2013 Posted 30 January 2013 Littlethorpe,Cosby,Narborough,Huncote all in that area
dobbylcfc Posted 30 January 2013 Posted 30 January 2013 as rico said youve got littlethorpe and cosby ect but theres broughton astley as well and blaby is less than a mile or so as well
pSinatra Posted 30 January 2013 Posted 30 January 2013 Does he work for Alstom (or whatever they're called now)? I know they are a French company with a division on the Whittle Estate in Whetstone. Whetstone has a large housing estate across the road from the Whittle Estate (the old GEC) with plenty of houses for rent. Fairly new build, 3 or 4 bedroom houses. The Pastures in Narborough is another similar area & Broughton Astley is much the same.
Guest Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 He's a high flyer drafted in by Weston Aviation. Which of the villages around there have nice houses? I can't remember Littlethorpe at all.
Rocket-Ron Posted 31 January 2013 Posted 31 January 2013 Within a 10 mile radius of Whetstone http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/find.html?locationIdentifier=REGION%5E26657&displayPropertyType=houses&radius=10.0

UpTheLeagueFox Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 Enderby. Land of the rich and famous. It was but I moved from there 20 years ago Used to live in Whetstone too, up by the football ground on the David Wilson estate. Nice and quiet back then, moved almost eight years ago so it might have got rowdier since.
Guest Posted 1 February 2013 Posted 1 February 2013 Can't go wrong with Braunstone, Kirby Frith is nearby too Really or are you joking? Within a 10 mile radius of Whetstone http://www.rightmove...ses&radius=10.0 Thanks for that Broughton Astley has a couple of potentially suitable houses. Is it a newtown? does it have any character? Is it a country pub type area?
pSinatra Posted 2 February 2013 Posted 2 February 2013 Really or are you joking? Thanks for that Broughton Astley has a couple of potentially suitable houses. Is it a newtown? does it have any character? Is it a country pub type area? I live close to Broughton Astley. It doesn't have any bad parts & it doesn't have any nice parts either..........it is plain average. It's got everything you need, but nothing special. It is characterless.......in the same way that most modern housing estates are. But it has lots of houses for rent!! There's a lot of small villages nearby with the type of country pubs & character you are looking for. Leire, Dunton Bassett, Frolesworth, Gilmorton, Willoughby Waterleys, etc.......but rented property will be hard to find.
kyleolly Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Just moved out of a rented property in Wigston apart from the damp it's alright cheap too!
Bert Posted 3 February 2013 Posted 3 February 2013 Broughton Astley is nice. Most of South Leicestershire has quite nice living areas.
Tommy G Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 Thurlaston Agreed me Maybes and JonnyBoy live there. Worldclass
pSinatra Posted 4 February 2013 Posted 4 February 2013 Agreed me Maybes and JonnyBoy live there. Worldclass Thurlaston is decent, but where do you buy a pint of milk, a loaf of bread, etc? It doesn't have a single shop of any description. My most surreal moment ever, a couple of years ago, walking up Church Street & bumping into the legendary Merv Hughes - sitting outside the old Dog & Gun having an afternoon beer!! A thoroughly decent bloke & brilliant!!

Garden centre has a few bits loike that - even the OAPs seem to cope. providing you work and have a car its fine, just call in somewhere when you are out and about at work or something, never affected my standard of living to be honest!

Spuds and Eggs from the farm Love the place at least the buses have improved from every 2 hours. So many times I walked that country lane from Hinckley road.
pSinatra Posted 5 February 2013 Posted 5 February 2013 Spuds and Eggs from the farm Love the place at least the buses have improved from every 2 hours. So many times I walked that country lane from Hinckley road. It has advanced a lot in the past 30 years. I used to know a few people from there when I was at school & knew the family that ran the Dog & Gun very well. It used to have it's gas delivered & the bus service was funny. Two buses a week into town.......one on a Saturday morning & one on a Wednesday morning
