Redknapp & QPR

True...clubs could stand up to these agents and players but they give in because they just want spend anything they can to stay up...even if it leads to long term problems.

It's a calculated risk though isn't. Certainly if they go down, unless they have an absloutley amazing fall back plan, they're going into admin -10 points, Redknapp will be gone quicker than you can say off shore bank account and the owner will be off. They will be go be back where they were 6 or 7 years ago continually fighting for to stay in the Championship with Mark Nygaard up front. But doing what their doing is the only way they stand any chance of getting out of the mess their in in the Premier League, so good luck to them, it's ballsy.

As you, us, and 16 other Championship teams, 6 League One Teams and 1 League Two know. Once you've been relegated it can be a bastard getting back in the Premier League!

Not on Deadline Day there isn't, the problem QPR are facing is that on Deadline Day Clubs want more money for the player and the player and his ego want bigger wages as they think they are a necessity.

Who else is there that QPR could go for in the remaining time to get a good centre half who could make a massive difference to their season?

So why are they waiting to do their business until deadline day? They've known since the turn of the year that Nelson would be leaving. Asbolutely shocking management and running of a club.Plus, Samba's not just asking for that because it's deadline day - that's about the same as he was being paid over in Russia, so he's bound to want similar wages to move. Redknapp and Fernandes would have known that.

Why does everyone do business until Deadline Day? It's ridiculous.

The fact this is a signing to replace Ryan Nelsen sums up the situation that QPR are in, he was just as useless as Clint Hill. Samba knew to leave Russia realistically he would have to drop down in wages, unless PSG went for him and that was never going to happen, any club with sense would not pay Samba £100,000 a week BUT guess what? QPR came a long and thought spending a huge amount of money this month would save them from Relegation. Samba knew he could demand what he wanted from QPR and probably also a nice big signing on fee and bonuses IF QPR manage to stay in the Premier League.

Well apparently, he and Remy have release clauses which mean they can walk away from the club for next to nothing if they're relegated. It'd be good to get them off the wage bill, but they'd lose most of the £20 million they spent on them.

If they can afford it so what?

Thing is, it wouldn't be their fault if they were to see out these contracts (run to 2017), they'll just be guilt tripped into breaking them.

I would imagine it's more to do with them not being able to sign them without that release, that it is them being able to chuck £20m in the bin. You pay both of their wages for two years with £20m, if they could afford that you'd be better off keeping them as an asset.

Spending like idiots on mercenaries is arguably what got them in this mess in the first place. I'm utterly baffled that you actually agree with a policy like this for them, let alone say you'd be happy if we did the same.

It's not ballsy, it's ridiculous, no one should risk the whole future of the football club just to try and survive in the Premier League.

But the ones doing it don't give a shit anyway do they? Fernandes and Redknapp arent fans, they can just walk away at the end if if all goes tits up and leave the mess to someone else.

It's not throwing £20m in the bin is it, it's throwing £20m at Premier League survival.

Obviously they would be better off if they keep them, but it's a risk isn't, I don't think it's a bad plan if you've got the £20 million to waste. Anzhi will probably resign Samba having made a tidy profit if QPR go down, and QPR will have his wages off the books.

To be honest Babs I think my opinion on this is slightly swung by the fact that I actually think it's going to work.

The Anzhi fans must be absolutely delighted to have him.

this has just been tweeted FACT: Over the next 4 years, Chris Samba will cost Bottom of the League #QPR £12.5 million transfer fee + £100,000 per week = £36 million.

My point is that they can't afford it. Fernandes hasn't invested any of his own money, he's just made loans to the club. There's no club in the world that could afford to just chuck £20 million down the drain.

Thing is, it wouldn't be their fault if they were to see out these contracts (run to 2017), they'll just be guilt tripped into breaking them.

So if they get relegated, they either get saddled with two players on over £75,000 each until 2017, or the players leave for nothing and they lose £20 million quid. Great management. I could maybe understand these deals if they were in with a real good shout with avoiding relegation, but they're almost cut adrift at the bottom of the table and they've got a lot of ground to make up and results don't seem to be improving. They're in with a chance of staying up, but at the moment it's far more likely that they'll go down.

Even if they were guarenteed Premier League survival, that is a MENTAL amount to spend on a player of Samba's calibre. Crazy, crazy stuff. If I was a QPR fan, I'd be gutted.

Judging by Twitter most of them are.

Obscene money, it's hard to wish ill on a football club as the fans don't really have a say but they deserve everything they are going to get.

It is an obscene amount of money to pay a player like Chris Samba....but it's the way footballs going isn't it?

Think you're a bit harsh on Redknapp in the OP as well. From what I've heard Fernandes asked him a hypothetical question in if he could have any defender in his team in world football who would he have and Redknapp said "well you've got no chance of getting any these but...." and Samba was one of them. Fernandes then persued it, did all the negotiationg including the ridiculous wage, and signed him. That's why he wasn't at the City game on Tuesday he was off talking to Samba.

Next year with the new PL deals even bottom place in the Premiership will receive around 60m, factor in the money from this year which is around 40m for 4th from bottom. They will make the Samba money back in no time, so I suppose they see it as worthwhile risk.

Feel sorry for the QPR fans if it goes wrong, but our owners are no different to TF, they are both spending money their clubs don’t have!

They seem quite split to me, some think he's worth every penny, and some are pointing out that Antoin and Nelsen have both recently gone, probably freeing up at least half of the money needed to pay Samba's silly wage. Lot of quotes like this.

"We're in Rourkes Drift, don't need any faint hearts"

Then there are a lof of comments similar to those on here.

yeah that might make the samba deal back, but what about the rest of there squads wages? QRP's wage a week i bet is about 8-10mill a week. Teams like QPR are everything that is wrong with the premier league.

Think that wage guess might be a touch high. But yes I bet it runs pushing 1.5 million a week which is still horrendous over the course of a season!
