Redknapp & QPR

I am absolutely over the moon that we didn't end up getting this absolute crook in to run our club. 100K a week for Samba? He's spending money like it's going out of fashion at QPR without even really improving the quality of the players, it's just obscene.

You have to say, it's probably shit or bust for QPR now. He seems to be spending even more recklessly now than he did while he was at Portsmouth. QPR are everything that is wrong with football at the minute and I would love it if they went down this season because they would be ****ed. It will take one big club going to the wall to finally wake up the footballing world to the fact that they can't keep doing this.

Samba is a quality CB, he's a good replacement for Ryan Nelson

Plus i'm pretty sure if he keeps them up, it's worth it!

He's a GOOD centreback - he's not worth 100k a week, and if you think he is you must be mental. Gareth Bale's only paid anout £80,000 and he's better than QPR's entire squad.

And if he doesn't keep them up, they're ****ed.

This is how other fans look at us after Sven signed people like Beckford on I would imagine £30k+.

I can't imagine these players signing for QPR (at the foot of the table) with a clause in their contract stating that if they go down they take a pay cut either. If that is the case, they are well and truely fecked.

Yet when we were going through a bit of a rough patch earlier in the season, some people on here were clamouring for him, even after the disaster of Sven.

Apparently Loic Remy has a clause where he can walk away from the club for next to nothing at the end of the season, meaning they could lose him for a pittance if they go down. It all just smacks of desperately gambling everything they have on staying up this season. If they go down they're going to take a devastating financial hit, even with all the parachute payments they'll receive. Their owner is doing what ours have - he's loaned the club that money, he's not invested it. And you can bet your bottom dollar he's going to want it back and he'll want to leave if they're relegated. Shysters, the lot of them.

Footballers are paid a stupid amount of money really. Before it all sorts itself out i see a number of clubs vanishing totally. I mean 100K a week is stupid but in all fairness, so is 10K a week. No one needs that amount of money. Its obvious that its too much money when you see the sort of rubbish that even moderately paid footballers spunk money on.

I agree that footballers should earn enough over the course of a career to get a really nice house, couple of nice cars and have enough money left over at the end to be comfortable, but you dont need 100K a week to do that. Hell you dont even need 5K a week to achieve that. It will never change however until like others say, a load of clubs go to the wall totally.

QPR situation is silly right now. The amount of money they've spent and players they've signed since getting to the PL is just downright crazy. I'd love them to go down, such a stuck up and poorly run football club - that shouldn't have been given promotion in the first place.

But regarding the OP - it's a bit simplistic and unfair to blame the whole thing on Harry Redknapp. They gave him the job with the explicit aim of avoiding relegation right? They're giving him money to spend on players in order to meet that aim right? I don't really see what else he could do in the situation he finds himself in.

I'm not saying it's the correct way of doing it, but just that given the circumstances and the way his superiors work it's all he can do.

The bloke who several weeks ago criticised the amount of money players earn at the club.

The chairman has hinted he might go if he can't "fix it".

I'd be seriously concerned if I was a Rangers supporter.

What gets me is that Sky are really proud of the amount of money spent in football. They constantly check how much has been spent in the window like they do on children in need night. They're a fvcking embarrassment and I don't know how the presenters can live with themselves being so cringey and fake all day. They talk about it like it's their birthday, Christmas and New years eve all rolled into one. 'We're loving it aren't we Hayley! What an exciting day!' I want to chin them all!

I can't really fault them to be honest. At least they're giving staying up a proper go, if it was us in that situation I'd prefer going down fighting than just allowing it to happen as we're scared of the financial implications of putting up a fight.

Although Samba is never worth £100,000 a week I'll give you that lol Not really QPR's fault though if that's what his agent is asking for.

I feel for the reporters, having to stand outside training grounds for 15 hours waiting for idle gossip, talking to presenters who are faking their excitement and from 5pm are surrounded by goons and little shits who "wanna get on TV lulz" screaming about the possiblity of signing some unheard of left-back from Bolivia.

They earn their money today.

True...clubs could stand up to these agents and players but they give in because they just want spend anything they can to stay up...even if it leads to long term problems.

They surely cant afford to go down, they wage bill must one of the highest in the premier league if i was a QPR fan i would be worried not excited about these signings.

There is putting up a fight and acting like a bunch of c****.

Would you also prefer us ending up like Pompey because they were the financial implications?

Why they are doing fine in Scottish Division 3?

Anyway, I agree with what most are saying, the amount of money they have spent this season is ludicrous and embarrassing to the EPL. Seeing a Club spend the amount of money they have spent under Hughes and Redknapp since the Summer and to be 4 points off 17th and 7 points off 16th is outrageous.

I would love to see them go down and hope they make another rubbish programme called 'QPR - The Two Year Plan'.

I don't think for a second it's all his fault - the club is terribly run (28 new signings in the last 18 months says it all), I'm just glad he's not at our club. Redknapp will have to take a big portion of the blame if they get relegated and get into financial difficulty. Many manager's have shown that there are good players out there that you don't have to spend ludicrous amounts for on transfer fees and wages. Redknapp doesn't exactly endear himself to football fans whe he comes out with shit like this:

"You shouldn’t be paying massive wages when you’ve got a stadium that holds 18,000 people."

"I don't want to spend the owners' money, really. I've got to be honest with you. I don't want to see the owners have their pants taken down like they have in the past. A lot of agents have made an awful lot of money out of them"

Just a few weeks before spunking £20 million on two players, paying them both well in excess of £75,000. It just shows you what kind of man he is.

It is their fault if they're willing to pay it? They could say "Oh, that's what he wants is it?" before laughing and putting the phone down. There are better players out there who would come for a lot less, I'm sure.

Totally agree. Realistically in their current situation QPR should realise that they are most likely to go down and the spending crazy money on so-called big names has got them nowhere. What they need to do is start planning for the future, plan for shipping out most of their squad and in developing a team that can challenge in the Championship again.

But instead they've reacted like this...

Not on Deadline Day there isn't, the problem QPR are facing is that on Deadline Day Clubs want more money for the player and the player and his ego want bigger wages as they think they are a necessity.

Who else is there that QPR could go for in the remaining time to get a good centre half who could make a massive difference to their season?

They deserve each other.

Would absolutely love it if they went down.

This.

And 100k a week for Samba lol lol

Posted

Samba is decent. However is he worth 12.5 million and 100k a week. No.

But if I was a qpr fan I'd be more worried about the fact no fecker seems to be leaving, how much do you reckon, rob green, cesar, park, SWP etc, etc, etc are on, botswinger is meant to be on 70k a week and gets no where near the team
