Webbo Posted 13 February 2013 Posted 13 February 2013 Lamby you really are coming across as a crumpet in this thread. I might be showing my 1970s upbringing here but to me "crumpet" is an attractive young lady.

Rincewind Posted 13 February 2013 Posted 13 February 2013 I believe that to qualify for JSA you have to APPLY for jobs, so you could have applied to the garage knowing you wouldn't get it or would turn it down or not show up... But you would have applied. Or is that too strenuous. I'm sure you could manage your visits to the Walker's around writing applications. Assuming you have a CV you don't even need to re-write applications in any great detail. That is true. Three instances PW of actively searching for a job be it application looking in the paper or going to an interview.. It is then up to the recruiter as to whether they want you. The long term unemployed or those that do not want work know this and follow what is required and are left alone. The ones who are new to iy foolishly only apply for jobs they feel they are able to do so their forms are sometimes incomplete or not specific with 'Nothing suitable' written down. This is when bureaucracy pounces and they are punished.. It seems Lamby falls into the former type of unemployed.
FoxyPV Posted 13 February 2013 Posted 13 February 2013 Why not? He's getting away with it. I'm glad we get the first hand account, had this appeared in the Daily Mail we would have a gaggle of folk telling all and sundry people like him don't really exist and the paper is just demonising benefit claimants by making things up. No one's arguing that there aren't dickheads who are playing the system. The family of StepFoxy2's ex are all lifelong dole scum, playing the system and who have no intentions of working. Gavin, the youngest boy and who really wanted to work, was talked out of getting a job by his family.

MC Prussian Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Lamby, I think it would be best for you to gather all information you can get about your own skill set, be honest about your personal assessment and create about three different job groups: One you'd die for to work in, one you could tolerate working in and one group with jobs that don't suit you at all. Then think about applying for jobs in the second category if your dream job either won't show up in the classifieds or isn't offered by the Job Centre. I'm afraid you'll have to bite the bullet at one point, mate. In order to finance parts of my higher education abroad, I went as far as working for a construction company for three months. It was one of the most frightening experiences, totally against my personality and with a pack leader who loved to insult my lack of experience. But it did help me in some ways and it taught me to appreciate payday - it was heavy work in parts, after all. It also helped me to appreciate the amount of work done by people who spend their entire career in construction or similar jobs, sacrificing health and safety along the way. So, make compromises. Attend courses offered by the Job Centre. Improve your chances by attending modules offered by colleges (usually rather cheap). Look out for part-time work. Ask friends and family for advice or indirect job offers. Be active. Just don't sit there, wasting everybody's time and money by bitching and moaning about your laughably "tough" situation. If you were putting more effort in finding a job instead, I'd have much more respect for you. Kids and families in war zones or people living in poverty have a rough life, so don't give me this spoilt Western Civilization boredom attitude.
Corky Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Lamby, you are such an idiot. I think you are on the wind-up to an extent but why would you set yourself up to be shot at like you do? Just stop digging when you are deep underground already.
The Doctor Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 I might be showing my 1970s upbringing here but to me "crumpet" is an attractive young lady. I thought that was a strumpet?
Webbo Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 I thought that was a strumpet? You need to watch more Carry On films my lad.
Rincewind Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 'Nice bit of crumpet there' is a well known Leicester saying.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Glad i don't pay taxes in the UK or i would probably show them some of Lambys comments and demand a refund.

marko Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 I heard there's still enough space Down Under - can't you just take the miserable sod off us? PLEASE!!! We should get someone to drop Lamby off somewhere between Perth and Darwin.

SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Well what are you waiting for??? Drop him off the harbour bridge?
marko Posted 14 February 2013 Posted 14 February 2013 Well what are you waiting for??? Someone to pay his airfare!
BoneDog Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Lamby show some initiative for Pete's sake. Have you got a printer? Do some shirtless pics of yourself and make a glossy calendar or something. Yeah you're no David Beckham but not everyone likes a pretty boy. Some women and gays are quite taken by the beefed up Eminem look. January, topless gambling shot with poker chips, betting slips, a small pen behind your ear and a thoughtful gaze. Feb, cuddling a cat. March, topless standing on South Bemondsey platform with a Racing Post. You only need to sell a thousand calendars at £3 each and you're laughing. I'd snap one up mate.
Donut Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 To be honest, the 55 hour a week garage job did sound pretty crap. It sounds excessively long, and in reality, completely unsuitable for Lamby's skill set. BUT There has to be sacrifice at some point, in order to get to where you want to go. The sacrifice does NOT have to be permanent. you arent screwed into a bad job forever. you can pull the plug at any point. But it does improve your employability and open doors, which cant be a bad thin
FoxesAreBlue Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Lambs do you live in Leicester or down near Charlton?
Zingari Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Well is forced labour illegal or not ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-21460723
