FoxyPV Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Rio Ferdinand said in The Guardian that Bale is nowhere near as good as Ronaldo.
Finnegan Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Did that need to be said? I strongly dislike Rio Ferdinand.
AyewJoking Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Yep Bale is best player in the league currently. Has so much more power than Giggs ever had.
Uncle Albert Posted 28 February 2013 Posted 28 February 2013 Typical Ferdinand, getting his duck face in the papers again. I'm with Finnegan, I really dislike Rio Ferdinand.
marko Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 Booked for diving. At least we can definitively say Bale is superior to Giggs in the theatrical department.
21st Century Fox Posted 7 March 2013 Posted 7 March 2013 At least Giggs left his cheating for off the pitch
birdwith2beaksandnofriends Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Is it too late to agree with how much of a dick Rio is?
Darkon84 Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Is it too late to agree with how much of a dick Rio is? Never too late for a twat like that.
Carl the Llama Posted 8 March 2013 Posted 8 March 2013 Ah Man Utd, it's like they absorbed the energy released by the anger & frustration of their opponents for each poor decision made at Old Trafford in Utd's favour in order to release it all in one mega hissy fit the one time a referee dares to make a decision that benefits the away team. Disgusting team.

I think Bale is an absolute phenomenon, but you've been incredibly selective about what you've picked out there.
Jimothy Posted 6 May 2013 Posted 6 May 2013 Giggs has won 12 league titles, 2 European cups and 5 FA Cups. I think Bale is an absolute phenomenon, but you've been incredibly selective about what you've picked out there. Giggs has been part of the best team in England for the past 20 years. Bale hasn't. You can't judge the quality of an individual player based on the trophies the club has won. Obviously better players will mostly end up at clubs that win most, but that's not to say some better players aren't knocking around at other teams. Le Tissier was quality and won sweet FA at Southampton. Bale, individually, has done more by the age of 23 than Giggs has in his whole career. Bale will probably never match Giggs' medal haul, but who will, not many teams will do what Man Utd have done, and not many players will stay at a club that successful for 20+ years, but Giggs has won them as part of a team, and I dare say Man Utd could probably have won a lot of those trophies with out Giggs. So let me rephrase your post. Man Utd have won 13 Premier League Titles (not 12), 2 European Cups and 5 FA Cups. Ryan Giggs has been part of those teams that have achieved that. Gareth Bale has scored 20 in a season, won 2 POTY awards, and a FWPOTY award, by the age of 23, things Giggs has never despite done having 15+ years more career in which to have done so. So just to ask again, who's the better PLAYER?

I'm not coming down on either side, I just think there is an incredible dismissiveness of just what a great football Giggs has been over the last 20 years. Football is a team game and the role he has played over such a long period of time is unparalleled in world football.

Especially the way he's reinvented himself, and also kept himself supremely fit. He's obviously been part of Man Utd's success. Nobody is actually calling him crap. He's clearly not. But players don't generally win 2 POTY awards if their not something special. Non penalty taking midfielders don't generally score 20+ goals a season if their not something special. Giggs has been an amazing player, one of the best to grace the Premier League, but Bale is on another planet entirely.

So just to ask again, who's the better PLAYER? I see what you're saying but Giggs has never played in a team where he's had to do it all. I remember when he first came through, he had all the same hype and scored goals that were just as fantastic. Bale is somewhat of a big fish in a small pond, meaning everyone looks for him and always gives him the ball so he has many more chances to do something fantastic. If he went somewhere like Man U, Chelsea, Barca, etc, and kept it up for more than 3 seasons. Then I'd agree he was better, I'm not even saying he isn't now. I just need to see a bit more of him. But for all we know he's one of those players who peaks early and never regains it e.g. Owen, Torres. That would make Giggs a better player.
