Jaspa Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Bale's best was that Stoke away, swivel volley a couple of years ago
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 15 February 2013 Author Posted 15 February 2013 Yeah, Bale is an exeptional talent but nowhere near Giggs 7+ Prem titles, double Champions League and countless domestic Cups Still think theres alot more coming from Bale That just shows that Giggs played in a better team. Doesn't mean he's a better player. Giggs's goal against Arsenal in the FA cup.....come back back to me when Bale has scored a goal like that Come back to me when Giggs has scored a hat-trick in the San Siro and destroyed the world's number 1 right back.
Fox92 Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Bale's best was that Stoke away, swivel volley a couple of years ago Agreed, I can remember that. Think Spurs won 0-2.
whoareyaaa Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 That just shows that Giggs played in a better team. Doesn't mean he's a better player. Come back to me when Giggs has scored a hat-trick in the San Siro and destroyed the world's number 1 right back. Giggs has been tearing top right backs to bits for 20 years.
Jaspa Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 That just shows that Giggs played in a better team. Doesn't mean he's a better player. Of which he achieved as a part of that team Giggs is of a differant era of football, conclusions as to who is really the better player have to be defined with it in consideration, as a specimen the modern Bale cleans the floor but on pure achievements alone Giggs should be classed as better . . . . for now
Uncle Albert Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Come back to me when Giggs has scored a hat-trick in the San Siro and destroyed the world's number 1 right back. Dani Alves plays in the Nou Camp and Gareth Bale has never played against him for Tottenham. Tough but Gareth Bale has got a long way to go before he can put in the same breath as Ryan Giggs, Giggs may of been in brilliant United teams over the years, but you have to have been a great player to be in them teams. I don't think Gareth Bale will come on for Spurs or whoever he is playing for at the age of 39 to steady a team in a Champions League knockout tie vs Real Madrid away. Another thing, why not just let Gareth Bale be Gareth Bale and not try and compare him to a fellow compatriot?
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 15 February 2013 Author Posted 15 February 2013 Giggs has been tearing top right backs to bits for 20 years. If you were a right back would you rather come up against Bale now or Giggs in his prime?
Uncle Albert Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 If you were a right back would you rather come up against Bale now or Giggs in his prime? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEAouJwTYlU Ryan Giggs was in his 'Prime' for nearly 10 years? And after watching that video I would probably say I'd of preferred marking Bale. But I do think Bale has all the potential in the World, he won't achieve it if he stays with Spurs though.
marko Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Come back to me when Giggs has scored a hat-trick in the San Siro and destroyed the world's number 1 right back. lol lol I'm sorry but Maicon was not the best right back in the world at that time!
Uncle Albert Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Best bit is, I've just re-watched Bale's hat-trick in the San Siro and it wasn't even Maicon he destroyed it was Zanetti! Pretty sure Bale gave Maicon a roasting at White Hart Lane in the return leg, like most have said though Maicon wasn't and never has been the best right back in the world.
Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 15 February 2013 Author Posted 15 February 2013 Bale's done more for Wales at this young age than Giggs did in his career. And Bale will play at major tournament, something Giggs never did.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEAouJwTYlU Ryan Giggs was in his 'Prime' for nearly 10 years? Pure class. After watching that I'd say Giggs but Bale's certainly going to be close to, if not better than, that if he continues as he is currently. I think they're different types of player though. If they weren't left footed and Welsh then I don't think the comparison would be as readily made. Amazing watching that video to think how much Giggs has changed his game too.
The Doctor Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Giggs has done it for years. When Bale does then we can say for definite that he's better. I think Bale will offer more to the Welsh national team. That Bale actually bothers turning out for Wales means that's a certainty.
Finnegan Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 That Bale actually bothers turning out for Wales means that's a certainty.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 15 February 2013 Posted 15 February 2013 Giggs has done some immense things in his extraordinary career. But I'd suggest that maybe bale has scored some better goals than giggs in a shorter space of time. Having said that Bale stands out more maybe due to having lesser quality players along side him as giggs did and still does. Not knocking spurs' other players, they have a great side and im a big fan of avb, they're just not as good as uniteds players. I'd agree with finnegan though that bale has been much more influential in the welsh national team than giggs. Giggs edges it for me and thats without considering the longevity of his career.
Narborough_fox Posted 25 February 2013 Posted 25 February 2013 Come back to me when Giggs has scored a hat-trick in the San Siro and destroyed the world's number 1 right back. Didn't know Phillip Lahm played for Inter Milan.
Vardinhio Posted 25 February 2013 Posted 25 February 2013 Bale is better than Lahm if you compare both players outright no question. However Bale has evolved in an era where sports science has been at its peak. Giggs was just behind this and it would have been interesting to see how he developed if he was 21/22 now, No way Giggs could score like Bale does. Bale literally just flicks it in from miles out.
deejdeej Posted 26 February 2013 Posted 26 February 2013 Anybody see the link flying around twitter, a couple of years back B'ham were going to buy Bale for about 3 mill after his torrid first year or two at spurs... Oh how times change.
Dan Posted 26 February 2013 Posted 26 February 2013 Bale's form is Ronaldo/Messi like but they've done it consistently for years, he's done it for a few months, I can't believe people are putting them in the same category.

Captain... Been for more than a few months, he is the best player in the premiership at the moment, the only one who comes close is van Persie. As for comparing him to Giggs, have to judge him in 10 years time, but at the moment he is pretty damn close to Giggs at his best and has quite a few years before he is in his peak. Would love him to stay at spurs, but he will be most likely be off on a big money deal pretty soon, and it will probably ruin him.
