Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 The number of games remaining is now in single figures, doesn't time fly when you're having fun?! Derby (a) Millwall (h) Barnsley (a) Brighton (a) Birmingham (h) Bolton (h) Palace (a) Watfinese (h) F*rest (a) There are some really tough games in there and some eminently winnable ones too, perform as we have tonight and we can secure third/fourth with the crucial home tie in the second leg that comes with it. With the best will in the world, second is almost definitely gone. We can get no more than 86 points, and Hull would need only 18 from their remaining games even if we were to do that. What we have to do now is secure one of the premium play-off places. The number of points to secure fourth spot has varied wildly between 74 and 80, though I feel 79 is the benchmark considering Palace are on 63 at the moment and 16 from 27 seems a realistic target for them. Are there 20 points for us in that run-in? It's a big old ask.
Corky Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 With a manager that is negative, tactically clueless, tactically inflexible, dour, gives shit interviews, can't inspire, plays players out of position, makes stupid substitutions, falls out with players, too arrogant, sits back on leads, gets outthought by other managers, is generally just crap, I can't see us getting another point.

We better stick with Pearson then.
JonnyBoy Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 in this form we will get 3 draws and 4 losses in the last 7
Kitchandro Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 I think we'll finish 5th. I don't fancy Palace away in the 2nd leg
Corky Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 We generally finish strongly under Pearson, I think we'll do it again.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 We need to find form from somewhere, it would be criminal to drop out altogether. I dare say 72 points would be enough for sixth, and we need only 13 from 27 for that. No point going into the play-offs out of form though.

Ah sarcastic! Sorry believed u for a min!
CKB Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Are there 20 points for us in that run-in? It's a big old ask. Personally? no, i see us picking up about 15pts which would see us finish on 74pts which could be enough?
Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 We generally finish strongly under Pearson, I think we'll do it again. Aye, I'm sure we won the last four of the season in the play-off season. Just a shame it was preceded by four straight defeats.......
Corky Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Aye, I'm sure we won the last four of the season in the play-off season. Just a shame it was preceded by four straight defeats....... Won the last five when the pressure was on. Won four of the last five in League One when the pressure was on. Have to do similar again.
Kitchandro Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Aye, I'm sure we won the last four of the season in the play-off season. Just a shame it was preceded by four straight defeats....... The last 5 in fact.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Stats like that give me hope. You just can't underestimate the advantage of being at home in the second leg, especially if your home form is good. 30,000 Leicester fans, likelihood of a good atmosphere, a generally good home record will all work in our favour if we do it. Second, barring a stunning Reading style run-in, is gone. Aim for the next best thing, a favourable play-off tie.
leicesterisme Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 I genuinely think we'll win all of our remaining home games, pick up a few points on the road and we'll be fine.
chili_con_carne Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Chris wood might actually score again against millwall.
whoareyaaa Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 The next 3 look winnable with a draw today it wouldn't be so bad, its then a case of if we can turn over Watford, Palace, Brighton which we are more than capable of doing. We need Hull to hit another bad run to stand any chance of 2nd. BUT We could still get up in the autos all those games are winnable in reality though it probably won't happen.
StanSP Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Those last 4 fixtures look terrifying and exciting at the same time. Have we got the toughest run-in? Looking at other teams' run-ins though, some have equally tough and challenging games, starting this weekend. I'm not harbouring full hopes on top 2, but as long as it's possible, there'll still be some slim glimmer of hope of getting it. Much more confident we'll gain a play-off place, and will definitely hold out for a 3rd/4th finish for the home second-leg. So focussing on key games where top 8/9 play each other: Hull play Forest this weekend - a draw would be most beneficial for us. Brighton play Palace on Sunday - should we win vs Derby, I wouldn't mind a Brighton win - I'm looking up rather than down for now. Brighton play Forest on Easter weekend. Hull play Watford April 2nd We play Brighton as said by Bilo on 6th April Cardiff play Forest on 13th April We play Bolton on 16th April, then Palace on 20th, then Watford on 26th - that could be a HUGE 10 days for us! Cardiff play Bolton 27th Now, obviously, I'm basing this on current form and no doubt the table will change a hell of a lot between now and by the end of this weekend. But overall, there's still lots of points to be gained as well as taken off each other. We need to realise as soon as possible that it's extremely unlikely to win every single game, softened by the fact that no other team will either. As a sidenote - Ipswich have a big part to play, despite not being in the run in themselves. They play Bolton, Leeds, Hull and Palace. They could affect us a lot. I think the 2 biggest games occur on the final day of the season, though - Nottm Forest vs Leicester; Hull vs Cardiff. Two massive games with plenty of potential to determine heartbreak or triumph!
Soar Fox Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Looking at the fixtures in my opinion we'll be around the 72 points mark.
whoareyaaa Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Hull could easily **** it up they have got a tough run in against top sides and sides fighting for relegation
Happy Fox Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 One game at a time, if we can go on another winning run we will be in a shout for automatic promotion but the likelihood is we will be in the playoffs, come the end of the season 5th place is ours to secure. Ideally if we finish in the playoffs 3rd or 4th finish would be beneficial.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 That's the beauty as well as the frustrating thing about this league. Every game is winable and equally every game is tough at the same time. At this stage of the season pretty much every team in the top half fancies a late run at the play offs and everyone in the bottom half is fighting to stay up. Also come this time of the season there is seldom any 4/5-0 walkovers because the importance of each and every point on offer. We could still realisticly finish anywhere from 2nd-12th. Just need to grind out a few results in the next few games to consolidate our spot and in the play offs then see where we are in the last run in of 3 or 4 games.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Just did a run-in thing on the BBC website. We finished 2nd with 81 points, just ahead of Watford on goal difference. Incidentally, we clinched it on the last day while knocking Forest out of the play-off places into seventh place. That'd be a pleasant day out wouldn't it? Especially the walk back to the train station.

I had us finishing 6th on 74pts, with Forest 5th, Palace 4th, Watford 3rd, Hull 2nd and Cardiff 1st
