Corky Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 Just did a run-in thing on the BBC website. We finished 2nd with 81 points, just ahead of Watford on goal difference. Incidentally, we clinched it on the last day while knocking Forest out of the play-off places into seventh place. That'd be a pleasant day out wouldn't it? Especially the walk back to the train station. But they've already won the league.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 I said it before and Ill say it again. Leicester playing against anyone in the top 6 doesnt worry me one bit really. Its when Leicester play the dross that I fear the worst. If we can finish in the top 6, whether its 3rd or 6th, I'd fancy our chances, even if we scrape in on crap form. Because we more often than not, turn up against the better sides, but dont get out the gates against the weaker teams
ratherbedeadthanred Posted 12 March 2013 Posted 12 March 2013 i honestly think hull arent that good, they just have a load of egyptian ***** playing for them, but after tonight result its such a downer for the whole club, forest are winning and will overtake us within a matter of time, i want to kill myself, we should be so much higher up than we are atm, typical ****ing leicester
blueblood88 Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 The number of games remaining is now in single figures, doesn't time fly when you're having fun?! Derby (a) - 3 points Millwall (h) - 3 points Barnsley (a) - 1 point Brighton (a) - 0 points Birmingham (h) - 3 points Bolton (h) - 1 point Palace (a) - 1 point Watfinese (h) - 3 points F*rest (a) - 0 points There are some really tough games in there and some eminently winnable ones too, perform as we have tonight and we can secure third/fourth with the crucial home tie in the second leg that comes with it. With the best will in the world, second is almost definitely gone. We can get no more than 86 points, and Hull would need only 18 from their remaining games even if we were to do that. What we have to do now is secure one of the premium play-off places. The number of points to secure fourth spot has varied wildly between 74 and 80, though I feel 79 is the benchmark considering Palace are on 63 at the moment and 16 from 27 seems a realistic target for them. Are there 20 points for us in that run-in? It's a big old ask. So by my guess, we'll pick up 15 points from the final 9 games. That will see us end the season on 74 points, 4/5th position.
Mythyaar Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Run in will be interesting, final 4 games Bolton, Palace, Watford, Forest. 6 points from those and 8 points from next games Derby, Millwall, Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham would net us 73 pts. Cardiff made play offs last year with 75 pts, Boro in 7th missed out with 70 pts. So we can feasibly get to play offs with 4 wins, 3 defeats and 2 draws, which I think is more than achievable. We're not playing too badly, contrary to the doom mongers out there.
Guest glasgowfox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 pity the bbc took away the predictor......too time consuming to do it manually....unless anyone knows of one elsewhere.....and yes i know this league is impossible to predict
ealingfox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Considering the teams we have lost to since we bottled it, I can't blame people for questioning where even just 4 wins will come from, but keep the faith!

1964FOX Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I could be sarcastic and say one more than seventh place will do.............................hoping that seventh place will go to Florist.

Kilworthfox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 With a manager that is negative, tactically clueless, tactically inflexible, dour, gives shit interviews, can't inspire, plays players out of position, makes stupid substitutions, falls out with players, too arrogant, sits back on leads, gets outthought by other managers, is generally just crap, I can't see us getting another point. And yet he is our most succesful manager since Adams, & he inherited a much better side than Pearson. Every manager since Adams has done a bad job, except Nigel & our "fans" are complaing at him & we are 5th in the championship. I recall being at Stoke getting relegated, that was shit! Our current situation could be better, but I'm very happy with Pearson. Don't you think that the group of players should be carrying alot more of the can for our lack of form, rather than 1 person?
harpendenfox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Looking at it another way round, at least if it's the play offs for us we won't go into them distraught at a last gasp failure to secure automatic promotion. That's assuming we don't succumb to last gasp failure to make the play offs. Where there are staws, I will clutch
MooseBreath Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 We've won about one in eight amd havent played particularly well in any of the last ten games. Let's just concentrate on staying in the top half before we start thinking we can pick and choose our play off position
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 in current form we wont even make the play offs, however i feel we are turning a corner, well hopefully anyway
Father Ted Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Anybody who thinks we will get 2nd still is mentally deluded. Lets just secure our place in the lottery. I reckon we'll finish 6th and hence play 3rd who will be Cardiff... repeat of three years ago.
JonnyBoy Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 who would you rather have in the play-off semi out of Watford, Palace, Hull or Forest? i would take Palace personally. But think they would still come through on top if they get the home tie in the second leg
Guest Bilo Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 who would you rather have in the play-off semi out of Watford, Palace, Hull or Forest? i would take Palace personally. But think they would still come through on top if they get the home tie in the second leg I'd be inclined to say Hull seeing as we've taken four points from them and Pearson knows a lot of their squad, has to put at an advantage. KC Stadium would be a difficult place to go in the second leg though. The correct answer of course is to say whoever's out of form. Form is everything in the play-offs.
David Guiza Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Should we make the play offs, out of the teams involved I think i'd rather play Hull in the semi's purely based on our results against them this season. Based on Watford's record this season, having their second leg at home is unlikely to even be an advantage for them. But there's still a long way to go yet, it's fair to say that 2nd is between Hull, Palace and Watford. And 2 from 4 play offs places between ourselves, the trees, Brighton, Bolton and Boro if they pick up their game.

Vale Blue Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 I did the predictor and we finished 8th. Cardiff is a decent draw but they are in bad form and shouldn't really be looked upon as the best team in the league at the moment, same with Blackburn. When we beat a team in decent form we can start thinking about collecting 15pts from 9 games, At the mo, we are going to drop out of the play offs

StanSP Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 Hull, save Forest for the final. The only thing being that as much as it would be glorious to win against Forest in the final, it'd also be gut-wrenchingly excruciating to be defeated by them. It'd be Cardiff 09/10 x billion.
Simmo86 Posted 13 March 2013 Posted 13 March 2013 We're more than capable of going on a run just need to apply ourselves like last night more often than not. Feel far better after seeing us last night
