bovril Posted 22 September 2013 Posted 22 September 2013 Being serious for a minute. I think it's a cultural misunderstanding. Lithuanians are very proactive people, if they want something, they go and get it regardless of rules.... The English sit around and wait for salmon to do it for them.

Freeman's Wharfer Posted 23 September 2013 Posted 23 September 2013 Have been fly-fishing once and went fishing in a lake on a boat once and really enjoyed it both times. How do people normally get into fishing? I wouldn't mind giving it a go one time but it seems like you need a lot of equipment and know-how in order to do so. Any tips on how/where to get started?

Go to any local fishing tackle shop and tell them you're looking for a basic set up. They'll sort you out. Good honest salt of the earth types in fishing tackle shops. They'll also give you advice about local venues if you ask.

Gear I'm not an expert at,but I have caught pike on lures in the winter of rivers.its quite good actually as they are lethargic ,travelling light and moving location you can cover a lot of water, rather than being in one position. Also because it hasn't been that cold the water temperature is still warm so they are still active.Good feeling when catch on a lure though .Think Col does a bit also.good luck, keep us posted.Have you fished for pike before?
