FoxesAreBlue Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Good god I remember this, only just seen this thread too. What a fantastic gesture from the club and long may it continue.
AKCJ Posted 11 April 2013 Posted 11 April 2013 Remember this game. Also remember how quiet a what was jubilant, packed Walkers Stadium fell. Rooney scored with one of their only attacks.
Lionator Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 10 years ago today, Everton fan Bernard Murphy was killed in tragic circumstances on his way to the Walkers Stadium to watch Leicester v Everton. As far as I'm aware, our club has sent flowers to the family of Bernard Murphy every year since on the anniversary. Time flies...RIP.
Fox92 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Taken from Toffee's post last year... Nine years ago today Bernard Murphy was killed just outside the Walkers Stadium in Leicester on his way to watch his beloved toffees, Bernard was just 40 at the time. This morning Leicester City rang his family to tell them they were in their thoughts and prayers, as well as sending flowers, a fantastic gesture they do every year why his own club seem to have forgotten about the loss of one of their supporters.I see a few of your supporters moaning on twitter and such about how the club is ran, so I thought I would like to post about a positive and thank your club for such a fantastic gesture which is a big comfort for his family, as they said today "Everton should hand over their peoples club tag to Leicester City" Great gesture from our club. Went to the game but was quite young at the time. RIP, Bernard.
StanSP Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Said it before but I love the fact our club does make that gesture. Really classy and decent of them and I'm sure it's appreciated by his family and friends. Another reason why I love my club
DB11 Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 It was well windy that day. As an aside, fantastic gesture by LCFC.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 I've wondered if this is part of the reason why the guy who runs the Fourth Official twitter account likes us a lot(almost as if we're his second team). He's an Everton fan
Bryn Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Hope that it is never forgotten. Genuine decency, completely unpublicised by the club.

FoxesAreBlue Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 It is a lovely gesture and I'm proud of lcfc for doing it. Well in.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Hope that it is never forgotten. Genuine decency, completely unpublicised by the club.Totally agree

As far as I'm aware, our club has sent flowers to the family of Bernard Murphy every year since on the anniversary. Time flies...RIP. Sadly I think a couple of City fans were killed on the roads that day too. RIP to all that died on that day just trying to get to watch a football match.

He's an Everton fan Fourth Official @FourthOfficial_ People ask why I have a soft spot for #LCFC liked them since 2004 & how they remember Everton fan Bernard Murphy who was killed at walkers http://inagist.com/all/444830315870420992/?utm_source=inagist&utm_medium=rss
cambridgefox Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Had a rep come in to see me the other week from Liverpool, saw my mug and said he had a soft spot for us re Bernard and the way the club every year supports his family, as although the rep was a Liverpool fan he knew Bernards family, had a few stories to tell which was nice, also said DN went to his wedding as their mums are friends. Thoughts for Bernards family and well done LCFC.
suffolk fox Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Wasn't there a plaque attached to the old bridge? What happened to it when it was demolished the other year? I believe it is in the clubs garden of remembrance there is certainly a plaque in there dedicated to this lifelong Evertonian. I think it is a great gesture by the club hats off to all.
Gingerballs Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 I emailed lcfc this morning regarding this matter and they told me that Bernard's family are planning to visit the KP to mark the 10th anniversary and also we have a plaque in the rememberance garden. I suggested a minutes silence/applause before Tuesday game v Yeovil. They assured me they'll be looking into. I passed on all the nice comments you guys have posted and think its great how they do this without making it public to get praise. They do it out their selfless kindness Bravo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
