Webbo Posted 6 May 2015 Posted 6 May 2015 On the frozen margaritas today for Cinco de Mayo! Any recs on Turkish beer while I am there next week? There's only Efes I think. It's not bad tbf.
Rincewind Posted 8 May 2015 Posted 8 May 2015 Presentation at the Kings Head tonight for Pub of The Year. Will be a few there.
Leicfox Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Three of my favs above and all available at B&M Bargains which is a bonus price wise. Supping a bottle of Peaky's at present which is a Black IPA then got a bottle of the Red IPA for later...Cheers.
Sir Fynwy Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 I've just drunk a bottle of beer that cost £12 for 330ml and really didn't enjoy it, there is another bottle of it in the fridge and I'm not sure what to do with it.
Sir Fynwy Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 What is it? Black Jaques from BrewDog, I like a lot of their beers but this just doesn't float my boat.
Voll Blau Posted 10 May 2015 Posted 10 May 2015 Little review of beers I had in Croatia... Ožujsko - My favourite of all the ones I tried. Lovely when cold and sitting in the sun. Brought some bottles and tins back with me. Also had a super dry variety which was OK. Karlovačko - Wasn't so keen on it. Thought it was a bit flat out the bottle, thought tasted slightlty better on tap. Quite enjoyed the radler they do. Lasko - Like Karlovačko, I didn't really find it anything to get excited about. Pan - Only drank it when I was already slaughtered in the rock cafe in Dubrovnik old town. Went down easily enough while singing along to a local singing Pink Floyd covers in an Eastern European accent and engaging the regulars in a slurred convo about Kramaric's potential. Lovely stuff. Tomislav - Nice, dark and creamy. Perfect for sitting with while looking out on the Adriatic in the cooler evening. Not one for the middle of the day when it's scorching though. Brought a bottle back only to find it had smashed in my luggage, soaking three of my favourite polos. Cut my thumb on the broken glass too, but the shirts live on after an aggressive wash.
Haydos Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 This is my local beer shop, lucked out with it being just around the corner from our house. They just got some Ten Fidy in which I've read good things about, got a couple of cans of that and some Brooklyn Choc Stout for later.
Rincewind Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 Nice. There is a CAMRA north Leicester tour for the Mild Trail month today. Train to Sileby/Syston 12.26 Horse and Trumpet-Free Trade-14.07 bus -Dog and Gun-Queen Victoria-bus to Malt Shovel-Horse and Groom Queng-Syston Social Club. Hope I get a chance to listen to the game. Not every going is a football fan. More into rugby. Might get a chance in the last stop. Some of the 2nd half or results.
Leicfox Posted 16 May 2015 Posted 16 May 2015 They just got some Ten Fidy in which I've read good things about, got a couple of cans of that and some Brooklyn Choc Stout for later. Both sound mega, I'm jealous..Enjoy
Haydos Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Ringwood forty niner, nice drop. Had a Boon Doggle the other day, pretty dece. You on the Tesco 4 for £6?
Unabomber Posted 17 May 2015 Posted 17 May 2015 Had a Boon Doggle the other day, pretty dece. You on the Tesco 4 for £6? Currently drinking that now mate, I got 4 for £6 from Morrisons they have some pretty good craft beers in nowadays.
Haydos Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Had that Brooklyn and Ten Fidy stouts, both up there with the Speedway stout I had at Christmas. Don't have too many bog standard stouts cause I find a lot of them a bit bland but I really like sipping an imperial. Both of these were very smooth but had a thickness like oil. Ten Fidy slightly nicked it, bit smokey and licoricey but very tasty.
Unabomber Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Had some Weihenstephan tonight £2 a bottle in sainsbury's not bad for the best readily available hefe.
ScouseFox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 had a few boon doggles before things went west on saturday. quite pleasant. pretty cheap in my local beer shop too i recall, hopefully not just a one off offer. had something else nuts in town, was plum flavour i think, was a mixture of disgusting and amazing but i'll be fvcked if i can remember what it was called, where it was from or how much it cost. tbf it could've been a dream.
Unabomber Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 Boon doggle what a name. My fave name is flying dog's raging bitch though, sell it in QOB makes me laugh every time I order it. I always say "can I have a raging bitch please, still deciding on my drink" makes me laugh every time.
ScouseFox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 haha i can imagine that the barmaid gets that joke every time anyone orders it and doesn't find it funny ever. but there is just a line of guys with great senses of humour grinning to themselves like yeah man what a joker
ScouseFox Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 is the forty niner better than the boon doggle? i only get the latter cos it's got a funnier name. think there might be a few on offer round the corner
Unabomber Posted 18 May 2015 Posted 18 May 2015 is the forty niner better than the boon doggle? i only get the latter cos it's got a funnier name. think there might be a few on offer round the corner Yeah it's slightly better it's stronger and has more flavour.
